Sam goes to bed when we do - around 12pm. He goes to bed brilliantly and we dont hear a peep out of him. Then at around 5.30 - he starts barking and crying every morning. Initially I thought it was that he wanted to go to the toilet, because he does let us know now. but its never that. This morning he barked on and off for an hour - We have good neighbours who understand, but will this die off - I need a bit more sleep before I get up for work at 7am
Thanks

We have this problem too. It coincides with the central heating boiler switching on. Hard decision this one - an extra hours sleep or wake up to a cold house.

How old is Sam?

hes 13 weeks old- we think its because when he goes to bed he is normally quites sleepy and settles down in the dark. In the morning it is still dark in the room and he barks. This morning we left a small light on in the room and he woke at 7.00 which is better. I dont mind the early mornings, but 5.30 is just a bit too early - is this a puppy thing? Can dogs be scared of the dark? :-(

Well thats just started with mine she been sleeping in our room for awhile now but the last 2wks shes been waking up at 4.25, well broken sleep does not suit me, so after been on my knees with lack of sleep Ive but her bed downstairs & now everyones happy, Shes sleeping ok & so am I. I must say it was good she was asking to go out rather than do it anywhere but it does take its toll. :)

My friends's King Charles does this and as Beardieboy says...it coincides with the boiler switching on.
