I have a 6 year old rescue male Westie.
He's wonderful and after him being diagnosed with Colitis he's now fully house trained.
However at times when he's been sleeping he will get into his basket that has a blanket in it will skuffle about and then wee in there. Its not very often every couple of weeks.
Also he is a rescue dog but he follows me all round the house if I move and he's asleep he will look up and if I leave the room he will follow me why do they do this? He is fine at night he has a walk last thing a small bowl of food and then settles down in the kitchen where he stays till morning he never whines or barks also he's fine whilst I'm at work. I'm not complaining about this just wondering what his reason is behind it.

Your dog may be following you around because he is insecure, or, he likes company. Many "only" dogs follow their human around the house - it's the pack instinct. Unless it bothers you there is no reason to change it, especially since you say he is fine in the house when he is left alone.

With regard to weeing on his blanket, it could be triggered by something before he came to live with you. If the basket is wicker or another natural material it will retain the scent of his pee, so he could be weeing on it for that reason. Dogs rarely wee where they sleep, it's possible he was kept in some pretty awful conditions. I would remove the basket and blanket.
