Topic Dog Boards / General / Petlog chaos
- By epmp [be] Date 25.03.21 07:06 UTC
You would have hoped that after the chaos caused by the launch of the new Kennel Club website last October, lessons would have been learned. Too much to expect? Yes, of course. Petlog have now launched a new site and users are being asked to create a new account (sound familiar to those of you who used to have a MyKC account?) I managed to create a new account and it matched my own details but when it came to my dogs . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I have one dog showing on my account, a dog I haven't owned for years and the rest are nowhere to be seen. It gives the option to report dogs missing from an account by inputting the microchip number, but goodness knows how long it will take for them to sort it out.

saw it on facebook last night- a lot of people are discovering their dogs data has disappeared so anyone with animals chipped by them best go check they are still on there. thankfully mine was but a lot of peoples are not

In my personal view the KC has had some sort of data breach in the last year which has forced them to move to a system that wasn’t fully ready. Coupled with a nonsense decision to furlough staff (questionable in my view apart from the events team), customer service has gone down the drain. I’ve been waiting 6 months for an import registration now and have not had one response to any email (I’m sending them weekly) asking for either an update or a refund for a service they haven’t delivered. The whole thing is absolutely shocking and they’ve opened the door wide for scammers to enjoy claiming puppies are registered (seen this multiple times on FB) and now where does this leave dogs registered that might end up stolen? Recovered with the wrong or missing details attached? Shocking.

There is this message

Can't see your pet under "Manage Pets"?
Do you believe there should be other pets that are currently not showing in your account? Don't worry your pet's details have not been lost. We just need to clean up some of your data first. The quickest way to get help is if you fill in the 'can't see my pet' form below. We will be in contact as soon as possible.

Please note: This does not impact our reunification services.

Well I thought I'd see if I could get into my a/c with Petlog (I was last year when I took Frankie off the database) - I'm finding a message saying if I haven't made a new a/c since March 2021 make a new one.

FORGET IT.  I managed to get 3 i/d codes none of which worked.  I'm not able to log in so (rude words) to even bothering.  I just have to 'assume' Teazel is still on their records.

ps   If I just hit log in, I get 'can't seem to find your account' and then the stuff about making a new account.    I can't be bothered!

You would have thought they would of thought 'right we royally screw up with the kc site lest not make the same mistake with the merlot one' not 'ah f it, just just do the same thing '

Made my new account and i have no dogs showing at all.

Its almost like they have used the same company who designed the kc one

I’ve just had a look at the Petlog site and my dogs not listed. To be fair I honestly can’t remember if I’ve ever checked it was on petlog. I filled in the bit of paper when I got Isla and sent it off (this was about 8 years ago). I didn’t get anything back from petlog to say the she had been transferred to me from her breeder, I just assumed it was done.
I’ll fill in the missing pet bit when I’ve found her chip number and see what happens

It looks like an exact copy of the new kc website...which is a maze to try and find everything on! I have one dog on there so will need to see if I can get the details of others on. Had I not been apart of CD and looked on the forum I wouldn’t have even known to create a new account and update details etc - why would a big database and company not send out an email ensuring everyone knows of the change. Unless you’ve recently lost a dog or moved etc most people don’t go on petlog much. You would’ve thought the company would be more proactive and just transfer everything over themselves? Anyway I will contact all our pup owners from past litters making sure they create new accounts but imo its all a bit ridiculous

Authorised agents did get a heads up E mail on 16/3

Because that would make sence.

I'm going to scream at this system. Just gone to log back into my account to see if my dogs are there and there appears to be a glitch maybe? But can't get into any account, keeps me on the main page, tried to look up premium and again takes me back to the main page. So I have no idea if my dogs have been linked back to me yet?.
- By suejaw Date 25.03.21 18:35 UTC
Ignore me. I've manged to get in now and still not showing as yet, I'm sure they will have thousands to sort out
- By furriefriends Date 25.03.21 18:40 UTC Edited 25.03.21 18:44 UTC
I managed to get a new account and log in but  if I put in the chip.numbers i can't see details . they confirm they have the details for each one but . I have to complete the form to tell them to sort it out
.one of the cats it says something different . I have to phone petlog direct something to do with administration on that chip.
I filled in their feedback info and as u can imagine it wasn't good

I've just managed to "create an account" but none of my pets are showing.  It also asks me if I want to "upgrade" my account but I already should have the upgraded account.  Another con to get more money out of the punters?  I now have to look up all the pets' microchip numbers and try to put them in and pray they match to me but I don't feel inclined to do that at this time of night.  Absolutely infuriating and ridiculous.

None of my dogs were on yesterday, but today they are all there, all with premium noted next to their names.

From the E mail authorised agents received today with a request to pass on to owners

"We understand this might be concerning some customers but we can give our reassurance that all pets are still safely on our Petlog microchip database and in the event of a pet going missing, reunification won’t be affected. However, because their details may have changed  and because Petlog has a duty to protect customers’ security data, we are asking customers who can’t see their pets’ details to fill in the ‘can’t see my pet’ form, within their new online account. Our team will then review the security information and match up the pets to the online self-serve account, so customers can manage their details going forward.

Our 24/7 reunification line continues to run as normal and even without a customer creating an online self-serve account, the database is searchable online or through our 24/7 lost and found line across the authorised network, for reunification purposes."

None of my dogs were on yesterday, but today they are all there, all with premium noted next to their names. You're lucky. Despite entering the microchip numbers for each of my 6 dogs none of them are showing yet, only the one dog I don't own.

I already had a new account & did the missing pets form on Tuesday so maybe give it a bit more time.
- By furriefriends Date 27.03.21 08:51 UTC Edited 27.03.21 09:05 UTC

Go to your profile(at top of page there is an icon of head & shoulders next to the search icon) in your account, click on Manage then manage pets. Scroll down & you will see a paragraph

"If you unable to see your pet's details, don't worry your pet's details have not been lost. We just need to clean up some of your data first. The quickest way to get help is to click here."

Click on the last sentence & in the middle of the next page is

"I have already transferred previously
This form is to advise us about pet's already in your keepership and not available on your account.

MATCH MY PET TO MY Account"

Click on last sentence & it takes you to the missing pet page

"Match my pet to my account"

Scroll down & the portal to submit missing pet chip number is there

- By jogold [gb] Date 27.03.21 11:54 UTC
How many of you have checked and kept your details up to date or even checked them every 6 mths.
I checked mine before Christmas and updated some details and removed dogs that didn't need to be on anymore.
All my present dogs are there and showing.
- By furriefriends Date 27.03.21 12:12 UTC
Never thoght to .once I knew they were there and correct. Hadn't even thought that I need to update animals I had lost either
Just for interest y should u delete deceased animals
- By jogold [gb] Date 27.03.21 17:44 UTC
I did as thought well they don't need to be there anymore and I still have their details at home anyway.
I just thought it would clear up space on their system.
- By furriefriends Date 27.03.21 18:32 UTC
For tidiness I suppose is about all I can think .

My account was up to date, with only my current dogs on it, prior to the launch of the new site and as recently as the beginning of March. Now none of my current dogs are listed, just a dog that went to his new home in 2015 and at the time details were transferred to those of his new owner.
- By furriefriends Date 29.03.21 12:07 UTC
Looks like the website is work in progress. Its improved a tiny bit over the weekend. Slightly more user friendly . Still to find out if they have my animals properly recorded though
- By epmp [be] Date 29.03.21 16:58 UTC
I've just checked my account again, no change. I have, however, noticed that the contact details they held were the address and landline phone number that I changed back in 2016. I've amended them now, but how on earth can they get things so wrong?
