Topic Dog Boards / General / Scam Pets4Homes ad of Champdogs litter?

Apologies if I have this wrong but think I have spotted a scam copy of a litter advertised on Champdogs on Pets4Homes;
https://www.pets4homes.co.uk/classifieds/2914309-golden-retriever-kc-reg-girls-and-boys-available-leamington-spa.html

It mentions Royal Rockstar Rhys and Kenollie Sapphire So Rare as the parents which were the same as mentioned on this litter;
https://www.champdogs.co.uk/litter/54740

The Pets4Homes listing mentions the litter will be ready to leave at the end of October, which is when the Champdogs listing says the puppies are due.  Just wanted to warn folks out there that this looks like a scam.  I don't normally look at Pets4Homes to avoid scammers but was curious and decided to search the pedigree names of the parents on Champdogs to see whether the advert was real or not.  Given the Pets4Homes ad mentions Leamington as a location but the breeder on Champdogs is listed as Cumbria something doesn't add up.

I hope to be a first time dog owner (something we have planned for a while but proving difficult due to Covid demand), and will carry on in my search to find a responsible breeder in the Berkshire area where I live.

I have contacted the breeder on Champdogs to make them aware.

Shows how important it is not to let your heart rule your head and to be patient with things.  If it is too good to be true...it probably is.

Well spotted. Maybe the real breeder sorted it out with pets4homes.

Well done! Impressive sleuthing!! My friend had her photos liberated and used by as scammer three years ago so it’s always been something to watch out for but it seems much more blatant at the moment.

Yes, my friends pictures have been used on a supposed litter on another site called Bymydog.

Two litters showing of exactly same age one in Scotland claiming KC reg hip scored and eye tested, and one non reg, no health tests mentioned, for same price.

The price at £500 would arguably be appropriate I think for unregistered.

I reported an advert on Pet4homes for £4500.00 unregistered litter (yes 4 thousand 5 hundred) as possible Scam, it was removed, but back up!

The usual price for our breed is around £900, from reputable club members with full health screening.

I noticed, when browsing yesterday, a litter of my long-term breed on that website with a photo of mum who was, from the photo of her with the litter, a blanket chocolate colour.   Her puppies were every colour under the sun, including a pure white one (he had a brownish splodge on his back which will darken and make him a lemon/white, maybe.   I wrote to the breeder and was assured that mum had 'purebred (of my breed) parents'.   They were on at just under £1.5K and although the white one was still available at the time, I note they are now all sold.

Needless to say I didn't get very far with this breeder who assured me I was wrong and that there are black (of my breed).   She certainly wasn't a 'recognised hound colour' and on checking Blacks would be a mix, with a Cocker Spaniel.    I hate to think that people think they have bought one of my breed when I seriously doubt that's what they have.

Oh and puppy scams were being talked about on Rip Off Britain this morning.

The breed club for my breed was contacted by an American lady who had fell victim the a scam breeder. They had found their website with photos of different puppies of the breed for sale and offering delivery along with some other photos of dogs. They had picked one of these non existent puppies and payed for it and no puppy arrived. All the photos on the site had been stolen from various places and the info on the site the one place they had ment to have the breed name it actually said labradoodle, so I'm guessing they had various sites as there was nothing breed specific you could copy and paste it for most breeds. A few have sent them emails threatening copyright and one person contacted them posing as a puppy buyer and took note of the names, bank accounts and phone numbers and said they were going to report them for fraud. But looking now the site is still up same stolen photos.

Seems as though the current situation is bringing the best AND worst out in people. It’s very sad.

I saw an advert on pets4homes today...It read all puppy’s are now sold, they were wire haired terriers and the asking price was...hold your breath a minute.....£50,000. Surly that’s a scam; come on who would pay £50,000 for a puppy..admittedly wire haired terriers are lovely dogs but com on...what are these con artists trying to do.

I would hope it’s a typo! That’s a ridiculous sum, even £5000 is over the top!
