Topic Dog Boards / General / What was the collar shown on A.Titchmarsh TV show?
- By HuskyGal Date 05.02.13 18:17 UTC
On the Alan Titchmarsh TV show today the Lady that set up DogLost was one of the interviewees in a segment on dog theft.
She showed a GPS tracking collar, which I particularly liked as it was Teflon so cannot be cut off the stolen dog and also had a lockable buckle.

Does anyone know the brand?
Also is anyone using these at the moment?  (how are you finding it?)

Any info much appreciated!

It is a Retrieva dog collar and the company who make them are based in hemel hempstead. I do not have one myself but understand you download an App to your phone that allows you to track your dog.
They are quite pricey, but then as I understand it are fairly indestructable so should last a long time. The only down side I have heard mentioned is that working dog owners would not use them when the dog is working in case it got caught.

Here you go http://www.retrievatracking.com/. This company is supporting the search for Angel the missing gsp and is offering a discount to members of angels army on the FB page.

If you go to the home page of DogLost there is an article/advert on there that explains about them :-)

Brilliant!
Many thanks everyone! I did do a Google and couldn't find it, so without your replies I'd have had no idea.

Looking at the site, you can rent the collar ( then this is deducted off the purchase price if you then decide to buy) I quite like the idea of that, so I think I'll give it a go.

I'm only looking to use it on certain walks (which involve a more urban than rural environment and on lead) because sadly an adjacent  area has had recent dog snatch instances reported, and I suspect the 'catchment area' may well spread to my walking area.

Yikes, how terrifying to have to use it for that purpose :( I wonder if you can also have fun with it, like I do with Spice's gps logger? I can download his walk onto google earth and it shows exactly where's he's been, how far he's walked and at what speed etc.

This is a normal walk, but I love the close ups of areas where he's had a mad moment :-) I also use it at the racing to see how fast each dog is running. Apparently I can link this logger to my phone but a. I haven't worked out how too and b. I think you'd have to be quite close. Shame as it was only £30.

That sounds interesting, where did you get it?

it was a present but they sell them on ebay, just search for GPS logger :-)

I've had a look and I'm still none the wiser! All kinds of odd things come up, none of which look like you can attach to a dog. What does yours look like, or better still, what brand or make is it?

This sort of thing.

Thanks Jan :-) Ms T that is the exact one that I use, and JG too :-) They've went up a fair bit but you can get cheaper ones, like this.

I use a poo bag or cling film and masking tape to attach it to the dogs collars as mine just can't seem to avoid water. If I go somewhere very wet like the beach I use gaffer tape to be on the same side, like this.
