Can anyone tell me what capacity spaniel bowl I should be looking at for a toy breed dog ? It is for water.
I bought one off Amazon and my pup could swim in it !

Does it matter - or is the bowl too high-sided for the pup to be able to drink from it comfortably?  I use a small washing up bowl for my cats and papillons to share.  Before that I actually used a small plastic window box.

OK, now I shall wait for all you lovely breeders to tell me what I´m doing wrong.  LOL.  No offence meant, and none taken if you say I should do things differently.

Our toys share the house with our large working breed. They all use the same bowls and as you say, the toys could swim in them! But they don't seem to mind. I did start off with a little bowl for water but it was hardly used, apart from in the first girl's crate.  And the big ones used to kick it over!

All my dogs like drinking from the hosepipe best of all. Not that we need to use it at the moment :-(

The spaniel bowl is narrower at the top than the bottom, to keep the ears of long eared breeds out of the water.
Because the bowl is large and she is a toy breed, one or both of her ears can still go in the water. That's what you get for buying off the Internet !
I need a smaller size but dont want to make a mistake again.
The one at PAH isn't narrow enough at the top - it looks like a normal bowl to me.

All the spaniel bowl I have ever seen have been spaniel (ie springer/cocker) sized.  Can you get a normal bowl and get a non spill lip to go over it?  Or just a smaller shallower normal bowl - I used to have a saucer sized one for my cats where there is not so much water to get ears soggy?

Quite small so that you need to change and want more often I find.
If you live near Bracknell, the shop at Ryslip kennels sell the ideal plastic spaniel bowl quite cheaply.

Could a road refresher bowl work? Our Latest girl's breeder used them with their last litter but they aren't toys, but the smaller sized ones might work just as well :)

It's so difficult to assess size online isn't it.  Do you know the capacity of your current bowl - if so can you simply scale down a size?

Alternatively measure the bowl you have and ring a pet shop direct to ask them what other size options are available.  Many ebay sellers are pretty good at providing measurements too :)
