Yes, the do have a regulation about showing at non KC events, and about judging at them too - they don't approve of it!  They also do not look kindly on any sort of attempt to for associations to band together sections of the dog show community - anyone else remember the fuss they kicked up when the Ch shows wanted to form an association?

Does anyone know of any other sport/organisation representing an interest or hobby which has total control over that activity but which has no route for input from those involved in the activity?  All those I can think of actually require membership as a condition of taking part.

> According to Admin they are "there are FCI registered dogs in the UK"

Off the FCI website Contrary to a widespread idea, the FCI is not a registry and does not issue any pedigree. In addition, it has no records of breeders addresses; this information is available from the national canine organisations recognised by the FCI

Admin is wrong - the FIC is not a registry, a dog can have papers from an FCI member country, not the FCI per say.

You can register a kennel name (affix) with the FCI providing you reside in an FCI member country, i.e. the country in which you pay taxes.  So you can be a British citizen residing in France and register your kennel name using your French address with the FCI, however at the same time you cannot also have this registered with the UK JC as 1) they are not a FCI member country and 2) you have already said you do not live in the UK any more by registering a kennel name with the FCI through virtue of paying taxes in an FCI member country.  Beleive me I have tried to register my affix with the FCI as I do more shows in Europe and Scandinavia than the UK but until we move to a FCI country and have that as our primary residence I cannot.  Similarly we have a house in the USA but even though we pay some US taxes by virtue of having investments there we also pay UK taxes as this is our primary residence.  Unless we spend x number of days in the USA and claim residency I cannot register my affix or dogs with the AKC and the KC at the same time - you can only have one domicle at once.

I believe there used to be a problem with people competing in agility shows that weren't run by the KC - such as UKA or BAA shows - but believe this was sorted out and the KC now have no objections to dogs competing in agility events held by alternative authorities. Being new to the competition side of agility I have never had a problem but I know there was discord between the different associations and the KC in the past.

There is a statement on the UK agility site that the KC allow you to compete in both clubs agility competitions  As there is not alternative show body there is no such agreement, but they do not approve of sowing in non KC events (as previously posted)  used to be fairly frequent bits in the dog press as reminders from the KC, nothing much appeared of recent years, but the regulation is still in place.    I rang a couple of years ago to check if the reg was still in force as I had been invited to judge at a local charity fun show and was told that it anyone reported it to the KC the "action may be taken".

Yes, coat testing suspended and the proposal to amend the rule is to go before the general committee - Dog  World and Our Dogs both carry the "breaking news" on their sites.  The petition has reached almost 3300 in favour of change and is still open for signature.
