I am beginning to find all this talking of fighting or arguing a little tedious.  Do schools not teach debate and how to conduct it anymore?

Who's fighting?  Differing opinions, posts mis-read - this is what a debate is all about :)  If we all agreed with each other all the time it would be a really boring world :)

Now if you want a fight I'll meet you outside the school gates at the bottom of the field later :D

Oh definately :)  You need to remove the meat before resting it and then raise the fat temperature before putting potatoes in order to seal them quickly, lovely crispy spuds with a very low fat ratio :)

Well from all the TV guides & the preview clips of the program it was very clear that the turkeys were going to be killed on screen. Why should it be upsetting to people who eat meat is beyond me

BTW I have been vegan for over 40 years. I don't like meat & haven't missed it at all in those years. If people want to eat meat that's fine by me, just don't complain when you see real reality TV

So, everyone who eats meat should never be upset watching an animal die?  Well I'm sorry, but that's not me!!  Yes, I eat meat - I was brought up to eat meat and it would be very difficult for me to stop eating meat, and I neither believe that meat shouldn't be eaten.  BUT I do think that it's not nice to watch an animal being killed! Isn't that what this discussion was about?  Watching an animal die on TV - no-one was opposing whether animals should be killed for meat, we were simply saying that it wasn't very nice to watch an animal being slaughtered.

Now how there are people out there that don't find that upsetting is beyond me!!!!

I saw a few animals slaughtered as a child, when it didn't trouble me at all really :), and I would be able to watch a humane slaughter OK on the television but I must admit I am not sure that I would queue up to watch one in the flesh these days.  I don't think that is too important though not every one has the stomach to deal with a cut finger after all :) but I do think everyone should understand what it entails and be aware that there are different ways of doing things so they can decide whether they wish to support any particular practice or not.

Iif they are food animals I truly cannot see what there would be to upset meat eaters Sorry but a lot of people are quite hypocritical-are willing to consume the body, but refuse to acknowledge the source or means of death

Like others have said too many don't really know the source of their food especiaslly children

Well I know exactly where meat comes from thanks, but I still don't like watching animals die. I think it's quite sad that there's people out there that do.

You miss the point, Keeley. It's not that people enjoy seeing anything die - they enjoy knowing that the end was quick and humane, rather than just hoping ... :)

Birth and death are equal parts of the life-cycle - neither should be taboo.

The meat my dogs get is from animals either slaughtered on site(like the turkeys were)or that travel only a few miles after living a stress free life on an organically run farm. The farmer/butcher I go to only kills when meat is needed for sale & all the meat is traditionally hung for 21 days(I think thats right)after slaughter & not stuffed full of chemicals, taken in bulk & slaughtered in a queue & then on the supermarket shelves the next day

I know my dogs need meat to be fed correctly so I make sure the meat they eat is at least raised & despatched ethically

BTW I didn't watch the program I prefer Rick Stein as a chef & of course love his lil old dog :D
