I would have thought that anyone who is dedicated and serious about a particular breed would do their homework, before even considering buying a puppy ;)
Then you'll be aware of breed clubs, as I stated in my previous post and what they're there for and of course, they advise you on what you can expect to pay for a pup, before you start wasting your own and the breeders time. :)
It's more than a £100 in my breed and I charge the lower price :d I was the one that originally brought them into the country and the four of us who first imported them decided that we didn't want to put extortionate prices on the pups as we felt that the wrong type of person would be interested. Others sell them between £3 and £400 more than I do. I charge the same for my dogs and bitches and it doesn't matter whether the parents are champions or not!
I suppose this is why it doesn't bother me if price is one of the first things asked because it does vary so much and I want people to realise that just because they are paying less doesn't mean that the dogs haven't been health tested etc.
>with me tho ide like to know the price befor i go and see a litter
For the umpteenth ;) time, it's perfectly all right to ask the price during the first phonecall - just not as your opening question!
LOL@JG :D
I think on this thread everyone is actually in agreement but you all seem to be going round in circles. It's quite amusing really...;)

Colliesrus
....especially as the original thread was "Puppy enquiries that make me laugh".... everyone seems to be on a different subject now (asking the price of pups)!

I cant remember what i said to my breeder i think firstly i kind of said basically my lifestyle etc what i wanted a puppy for and asking when she had any due and what health test have the parents had and what the puppies will have. I dont think i knew the price till about a week after but that wasnt to important. We had someone once ring up about a baby rabbit and they asked is it house trained and does it like to play. When our cat had kittens someone asked can you buy vegitarian food as there religion doesnt allow them to eat meat. In the end they didnt have one after we explained cats need meat.

I had to rehome a much loved cat once (she was stressed living indoors and it was too dangerous for her to go out where we lived) and was horrified at the number of phonecallers who wanted to know how heavy she was, what weight etc...
I have posted in the forum today with regards to my 5 month old Lab who has Hip Dysplacia. I got her from a game keeper (so from working dogs) who wanted shot of her so his bitch could get back working, she was only 6 weeks old. I took her and the last thing he shouted was "don't bring her back, she's sold as seen". A week Monday she is off to the Orthopedic vet to find out if she is a candidate for Triple Pelvic Osteotomy. It will cost me 14 times what she cost me, but if her life is improved and she can lead a normal canine life in the end its worth it. By the way, she's not insured but she's a lovely pup and like L'Oreal, she's worth it.
