Our old dog now 10, has not been vaccinated for 3years as the injections were making him ill. He would go bald and really aggrivate his skin. Since no boosters he has been fine! However, do feel bad as vet advises them and I'm worried about our new puppy who is due second injection in 3 weeks but is up to date so far and will be in the future as long as no adverse health conditions. Trying to keep apart until pups second vaccination but now thinking about taking old dog for a booster. Not sure, any advice welcomed!

I would most definitely NOT booster him.  I really don't think he needs the risk.  I'm sure the puppy will be fine.  Honestly.

I agree I would not booster such an old dog, particularly one that  has reacted badly  before. Most vets would agree with this. We no longer booster routinely. We give the initial two injections and either one booster or none. We came to this decision after a lot of thought and after meeting breeders who do not booster and never have over their more than 50 years of breeding. Personally I feel there is a greater risk to the health of our dogs from over boostering  than there is from not boostering.
  I feel the increase of immune mediated diseases are most likely the result of the assault that these vaccines make on the immune system. I follow the work of Dr. Jean Dodds and would recommend her blog to anyone seeking advice about many veterinary issues - particularly over vaccination.

You certainly should not be keeping them separated until pup has his shots.

Your dog ahs been vaccinated, eh is no more of a health risk to your pup than you are, assuming you aren't locked in the house with him.

How many new babies do you known who are kept isolated from everyone until several months old when they start getting vaccinated, quite the opposite all the friends and relatives come around and play pass the parcel, with new baby and kiss and breath all over it.

Many of these babies have not even had the benefit of their mothers colostrum to give maternal antibibodies.

Unless your vet has told you of an outbreak in the area, when it would be wise for you
