Breeding / My girl is at day 64, some signs come and go ( labour) . (locked)

Sorry Yuma I hadn't read to the end but just responded to the individual post.
the problem as you know is the irresponsible won't neuter and the responsible generally won't need to.
I completely agree , this last situation I was put in just was really upsetting and then my sister in law just let her dog get pregnant. This dog doesn't have her shots , they get her food from they animal food bank and sleep till noon while the dogs standing there with her legs crossed cause she has to pee. I appreciate all the help I received on this site. It probably saved the life of mom and the pups. I will always be grateful for that. I have two of my own dogs they are lab/golden mixes. They are both spayed , the main reason I made this choice is when I got them my boys were 11 and 13 . I was working full time and I didn't feel they were responsible enough to keep them in when they were in season . ( we live by a farm so we take them and let them run a lot)
I really didn't mean any disrespect , I was on no sleep and just went everything with Bell. I was really upset about the whole situation .
Thanks again for all the great advice and everyone yelling c section when I was stalling on what to do.
hi yuna just wonderd if you are weighing pups twice aday? that will tell you straight away if pups are getting enough milk, soak mums food with puppy milk and see if she will eat that ,plus it will help with her not drinking much.x
I did the first day, then the scale died . I'm getting another today . Last night was a bit rough, they kept scooting away from mom and getting under the towel and blankets. I kept getting up and putting them back . About an hour later they would do it again. I checked before I put everyone down for the night, they she has much more milk than she did ( she drank about 6 oz of goat milk mixed with water) is it normal for them to go everywhere?

Just a thought Yuna, are you weighing these pups ? I weighed my pups twice a day for the first 2 weeks to make sure they are gaining. This might put your mind at rest a little with regard to the bitches milk?

oops, that'll teach me to read things properly.

If they are too warm they will spread out like that, too cold and they lie in a heap ;) maybe check the temperature? Are you adding heat in some way? They need to be kept warm, but if the weather's very warm (or you have the heating on) additional heating isn't necessary. Between 70-80dgrees is warm enough and the dam will also help keep them warm ;) remember though
NO DRAUGHTS ;)

You may have to remove any loose blankets that they could get caught up in, I use vetbed but a friend of mine uses rubber backed bath mats, the fluffy type, are they warm enough, have you got a heat pad in part of the whelping box they can move to if feeling chilly, only having 2 pups they cant get into a puppy pile to keep warm, during the first few weeks they need to be kept really warm to ward off infections such Cannine Herpes Virus.
Pleased to hear that Mum has more milk now.
The bathmatt is a lovely idea! Yea I have a heating pad under part of the whelping box. It's summer here so outside is in the 90s. My husband works 12 hours a day outside so we run our air conditioner . That's why I do the heating pad the temp in the house usually is around 68-70. I have the vents closed in our room ( where the puppies are) so no drafts . I was gathering everything to leave to go to work and I checked . No milk again , ugh ! I brought her goat milk and stuff with me. I will def be grabbing another scale today. I picked them up this morning and they are plump and solid.
then sounds like the pups are feeding well! but i would deff get some scales today it will put your mind at rest ...i always use vet bed its alot safer x
I'm not sure what a vet bed is or where I could get one. I'll start looking around for one. I'm. Blessed that I can bring mom and pups with me during the day ( she has always came with me to work, I set up 2 whelping boxes, one for here and a larger one at home) she loves them both.

Vetbed is a sort of fluffy bedding mat, lots of people use them for whelping boxes / grooming crates etc. You'll be able to find it online very easily. I would try to avoid moving the whole litter & mum from work to home constantly, too much risk of infection and upset to the bitch. Can you work from home for a couple of weeks? :-)

Vetbed looks like sheepskin but is synthetic, if it gets wet the fluid passes through leaving the surface dry, bought a large roll as it allows me to cut to what ever size I need, I lie on a piece at night to help my arthritic hips.
Working from home is not an option . I really have a different kind of job , I do home care. Only person here is the elderly women I care for . It's a regular house, no other pets or people. Actually Bella likes it here better. No kids, no other dogs, just quite.

It's polyester fleece fur/bedding as used by Vets.
It drys quickly is hypoallegenic, doesn't harbour bacteria and is thermal, allowing moisture through (vuital when tehy start pioddlignunaided) to absorbent material liek newpaper underneath, so always dry adn warm surface.
Will just Check Bing, only found this Candain sitee, but that's probably as the serach facility is country based.
http://vetbedcanada.com/

I don't know the conversion rate for Canadian dollars but they seem expensive, I got mine from Ebay.
I started a new thread, because I'm off topic from this tittle please look at that one, I need more help. I am pretty sure that Bella's milk is drying up.
