I asked all my neighbours to save their papers for me and had a great response. Got loads more than I needed even with 6 Lab puppies.

I phoned up my local newspaper and they gave me all their copies that would usually go for recycling, about 300 copies per week, and they are about three times the size of a regular newspaper. They are as new and free, fantastic!
Thanks for the tip! I had no idea that was even possible. I had thought neighbors were the only ones to ask.

I got my paper from the local chip shop! Comes in large clean batches and if, like me, you have a good relationship with them you can have them for free! If not they cost around £5 a batch.

I bought chip papers. It was good but not as absorbent as real newspapers

Smithy, I chose this method this time because there is only 1 pup. In the future, I think I will try teabag bedding. She is only 4 and half weeks old but already doing no. 2s outside...just the little wet patches she does when she stops mid run to sort now x

Just come across something which may help. Supermarkets often have free papers for properties and also Waitrose give out free papers daily too. Also The Metro at local train stations and on some buses.. Worth stocking up if you can on these too
