maybe she prefers the water from outside the room as it is cold I had to keep filling my girls bowl up with really cold water if it was room temp she wouldnt touch it .

> just not sure how much to add per a pint of water

Hi Jo
Usual for this drink is 1 teaspoon glucose powder to one pint warm water.
Glad you're still hanging in there.  :-)

Hey Jo,

Sorry only just read this thread, i do hope your girl continues to do well and makes a full and speedy recovery, having just been through (and still going through) a scary time i know how much it takes out of you, i hope you can get some help soon as you need to take care of yourself too.

Sending hugs and healing thoughts your way for you and mist and all the babies x

The gruel recipe is:

Cup of Porridge
2 cups of Water
1 Egg
Tablespoon of Honey
Tablespoon of Milk powder
Tablespoon of Glucose

Boil up everything together, stirring until porridge is thick, dilute with a cup of milk and cool.
Only use the egg in one batch then make the gruel without egg.

It is very fluid and they tend to eat/drink it until it is all gone. I have passed this on to many people and all have said their bitches love it and look forward to it. Good luck

Ring your Vet now before he's finished the evening surgery.  He's the one who knows what's going on inside her.........
- By STARRYEYES Date 13.01.11 19:00 UTC

- By AlisonGold [gb] Date 13.01.11 19:59 UTC

- By WestCoast Date 13.01.11 20:34 UTC
Well done. :) :)
Is she drinking water from the bowl in the kitchen?  If not, can you just make her food wet?  I'm sure that'll be OK. :)
- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 13.01.11 20:47 UTC
Thinking of you both.  Hope she picks up. xx
- By white lilly [gb] Date 13.01.11 20:49 UTC

i think tierdness messes with your mind :(
- By Nova Date 13.01.11 20:50 UTC
If I ever need to get fluids into a dog I mix their favourite food with water and liquidise, so chicken soup or pilchards & tomato soup.
- By JeanSW Date 13.01.11 22:19 UTC
Jo I am so sorry, what a time of it!  And you can see why some people decide not to breed again.  I am willing Mist to keep going.

I was frightened to ask, do hope that things as so much better that sleep is the reason we have not heard.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 14.01.11 21:51 UTC
evening yes ive been to sleep today infact ive slept on and off all day!! mist seems ok in the mornings then hits lunch time and goes down hill from then, the only thing i can put it down to is the AB's shes on for her water infection its just 1 tab once aday ,shes eating very well now but we carnt get her drinking ive tried it all so now will see how her milk goes i know she isnt produceing alot pups want to drink all the time from her! they are gaining weight so not to worried about that but she still pants alot wondering if to give her calcium sup? she will not drink in the room if she see's me bring a drink in she gets out the bed and not get back in if i offer her a drink out the bed she jumps back in lol so strange! she was drinking ok till water infection started her wee is clear now and only 2/3 days left on them wonder if they making her feel sick even tho she eats when i give them her xxxx
- By Nova Date 14.01.11 22:13 UTC
Relieved to hear that she is at least no worse, the drinking is strange but as long as you can sneak it to her in food she is probable getting enough for her needs if not the pups - still if they are gaining weight you seem to be managing and I bet you feel better after some sleep.
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 15.01.11 07:44 UTC
Good to hear things are not too bad, not quite there yet but at least no more major problems developing! Hopefully it will improve from here, you've really been through it!
- By snomaes [gb] Date 15.01.11 08:31 UTC
<<<we've found a lump on her neck at the bottom>>>>

Could this be the site where she has had an injection?
- By toffeecrisp [gb] Date 15.01.11 19:17 UTC
Hi White Lily, just a thought would it be possible to give Mist her AB at night with something to eat, then possibly she might sleep thro the sicky feeling?

Hope she gets better soon xxx
- By white lilly [gb] Date 15.01.11 21:14 UTC

- By JaneS (Moderator) Date 16.01.11 22:52 UTC
It's probably best if I close this thread now as it's so long and you continue on your second thread, specially as the above question relates to weaning your pups

Thanks
