> Have found a WW class not far so next week should be our first week with them!

thats good, you'll get guidance on what are good to eat. the key is not to beprive yourself of anything you really want. i can totally live without fruit juice, thats no biggy but i cannot live without the occasional sweety so i earn them- eg. i wanted a sweety on wednesday so i did an hours intense excersize- still in pain lol!

Good for you Pam, my daughter has been at goal weight now for 4 yrs and lost 4stone + she is now a size 10 still goes to ww every wk.   I have lost a sone and a half since I last saw you, but still got about 7/8 lbs then back at my goal weight, I made the mistake of stopping going to classes and like you put on most of it again.  I really like the new ww diet so much easier than the last one especially being able to point from evening meal, I find that a lot easier as I am not a day time eater either.  Will see how ive done on Tues at the next weigh in.

My downfall is ice cream and puddings LOl !!! but the ww range are super and I buy a lot of the sugar free jellys as they are no points and make a lot of home made soup which some are also no points.
- By Astarte Date 16.01.09 11:50 UTC

> My downfall is ice cream

i bought some dairy sorbet the other day thats really low on points. there is also the skinny cow ice cream thats supposed to be nice :)
- By Blue Date 16.01.09 13:23 UTC
My downfall is ice cream and puddings mine to..  very few I don't like.

I have been souping it for 3 weeks thank heavens I like soup..  the running machine I bought last year is finally being used this year :-)

>bear in mind that BMI imo is a load of tosh!!!

Sorry, but I disagree with that statement................

Most people that are attending a slimming class are there because they are fat/overweight, not muscular, so therefore, the healthy BMI range IS a good weight to aim for.

WW's encourage all it's members to aim for an initial loss of 5% of their starting weight, which is proven to reduce the risks of some health problems.

The people that are very fit and oozing muscle generally have no weight problem and the BMI range wouldn't worry them I'm sure ;-)
- By Jolene [in] Date 16.01.09 14:25 UTC
Hope you're enjoying WW's ;-) .............set yourself those Goals you should have heard/read about this week and make it happen! You know you can!

My 1st goal when I joined last year was to lose a stone before my 40th birthday.....so in 5 weeks! I cut out alcohol and this was to be my treat if I managed my own personal challenge!

Also, I had a pic emailed to me of my dog & I at Crufts last year, and I looked awful, so wanted to go back this year looking "fit"! which I will :-D
- By AliceC Date 16.01.09 17:58 UTC
Ive never really been a pudding person, but my OH & I discovered the nicest sticky toffee pudding which is heavenly with vanilla ice cream!! He sat next to me last night eating it - it was torture but I only had one small mouthful...I actually dreamt about sticky toffee pudding last night in my sleep!

I have started to really like clementines though so been having one every time I think of something bad...

I'm just back from my first weigh in at WW I'm so pleased, I have lost 61/2 lb. :-)

I haven't been hungry at all and have been able to eat plenty, I even had fish and chips on saturday night.
I'm feeling really motivated now and am hoping to lose 2lb a week from now on.
- By Jolene [in] Date 19.01.09 12:52 UTC
YAY!! Well done, you've done brilliantly, what a great weight loss for the 1st week :-)

Did you do fast start or just the foods you wanted to eat?
- By Hugos There [gb] Date 19.01.09 13:32 UTC
I didn't use fast start, I'm saving it for when i've had a difficult week. I just eat my points allowance each day.

I found it quite easy to follow, the discover plan is really easy to do. I've never dieted before so I don't know how it compares to the old system. I'm guessing the real test will come a few weeks, once the novelty wears of.
- By Astarte Date 19.01.09 16:27 UTC
standing ovation hugos there! thats brilliant :)
- By earl [fr] Date 19.01.09 16:35 UTC
I think I'm going to be joining this discussion soon.  Just booked a holiday for the end of October with friends and the thought of getting into a swimsuit (if I can get one that fits) is bringing me out in a cold sweat.  Well done everyone who's lost weight.  It's so difficult.  I've done it in the past, but always end up putting it back on and some.
- By Hugos There [gb] Date 19.01.09 16:45 UTC

>standing ovation hugos there! thats brilliant :-)

Thanks for that and for all the advice, hope you have a good week.

unless they are going for life/CI cover - we rate anyone with a high BMI even if it is just down to being over muscled.
- By Astarte Date 19.01.09 17:23 UTC
i lost 2 last week but it might be a little on hold this week for me as its my birthday on wednesday so was out for dinner last night and am out out on sat. naughty me!

Wow...good on you.
You deserved your fish and chip treat...if I remember correctly they come in at 16 points, which is quite doable anyhow.
Good luck keep up the good work.

- By Blue Date 22.01.09 20:13 UTC
Well done everyone..

Have any of you tried the Fruit Crisps I am addicted to the Apple ones.  Sainsbury stock them 1/2 a point per bag.. really good.

> Does anyone use the WWs forum ?

I haven't done, but I have only been doing it for 2 weeks and just found out about the online stuff on Monday.
I will have to have a look and see what it's like.
- By marguerite [gb] Date 27.01.09 16:31 UTC

You look at 1/2 lb of food then you won't say " just" again :-D   Well done.  This time of the year is hard to. I have been wearing my pedometer to keep me going.
- By Jolene [in] Date 27.01.09 22:44 UTC
nobody much ever replied, but it was useful for picking up tips etc........

I don't wear my pedometer often but the other day, I found i'd covered over 12 miles in a day :-O .......imagine all those activity points I'd earned lol
- By Jolene [in] Date 27.01.09 22:45 UTC
1/2 lb is good, imagine it as a block of butter coming off your thighs lol
- By Blue Date 27.01.09 22:54 UTC
A lot on the forum don't seem to understand how to use forums and just keep posting new posts rather than threads :-)

Makes it hard keeping up..

I have been working my way through the recipe magazine I got 3 weeks ago. I had steak Diane last night.  It was acutally very good the weight watchers way.. :-)

Well still haven't started my diet yet, I really need to though!  Will do my shopping to start on Saturday.  Don't even know how much I weigh but should think I'm well and truly over 12 stone.

Being quite new to weight watchers I find the recipies really useful they save me having to work everything out. I have really enjoyed all the recipies I've tried to date. I think I might buy the recipe book next week although it is quite expensive.

The only real problem I have had so far is changing from semi to skimmed milk I just can't get used to it.
- By Blue Date 27.01.09 23:45 UTC
The only real problem I have had so far is changing from semi to skimmed milk I just can't get used to it. Don't then the difference is not that much. We buy the  one milk , think that is what it is called. ( I Just picked it up never read it)

The magazine I got is purple called Irresistible.. it has 109 recipes  It was free the week I joined. I am sure they still have it.

PS  I am actually using quite a few of the WW food , I have been suprised at the quality. Tikka Masala is good.  The puddings are good and also the bread.  Tesco and Sainsbury have them all on special.

LOL
I could have written this. (probably altering the 12 to 13)
I have not been on the scales since long before Christmas and when I do is when the work begins again.
The trouble is for me that the numbers dont bother me I just want to be a size 14.
I'm 5'7 and think that is fine.

Karen
- By Jolene [in] Date 28.01.09 08:21 UTC
I really must look through the Irresistible mag.......................I've tried out quite a few recipes from the monthly magazines, and so far, only been one recipe which was foul! (chick pea patties?!)
- By Jolene [in] Date 28.01.09 08:23 UTC
C'mon Karen.........bite the bullet, go along and get yourself weighed, the sooner you do, the sooner you'll be a size 14 again :-) ....................you can do it, go on!

- By marguerite [gb] Date 28.01.09 13:18 UTC
I find that the red cap long life milk is better than the "normal" red cap, it tastes creamier for a start, thats the one they use at my meeting when we have a cuppa before the meeting starts.

I love the puddings, the ice cream, banoffee desserts, carmel crunch desserts, even their tubs of rice pudding I also use a lot of sugar free jellies to fill me up along with the desserts I use the hartleys sugar free ones.

My problem is I think sometimes portion sizes, I bought the scales about 4 yrs ago , gave them to my daughter after I got to goal weight, big mistake, so will get them back off her, another good thing I carry about with me is the calculator you can point all foods in the supermarket if you take this with you, its amazing how many items have really high points that you will put back on the shelf LOL!!!!!

My daughter lost 2 lbs this week as she is under her goal weight she looks amazing for 40 yrs of age, no one believes that Fiona and Tracy (22) are mother and daughter they think they are sisters, so alike.

Keep it up everyone.
- By pavlova [gb] Date 29.01.09 16:09 UTC
I just maintained this week I,m rather dissapointed really as I thought I,d done well and stuck with the plan all week so hopefullly a loss next week
- By AliceC Date 29.01.09 16:20 UTC
Have you been exercising too? Maybe the fat has turned to muscle ??

I am so proud of myself for sticking to my plan and you should be really proud that you've stuck to yours too - and hey, maintaining is better than putting any on!!

My scales are broken so can't weigh myself - but Im certain I have lost weight, my clothes are nowhere near as tight and I have just looked at my bum in the mirror at work (obviously with all my clothes on! I know that sounds quite dodgy!) and it really appears to have shrunk a bit!

:-D
- By Blue Date 29.01.09 18:03 UTC
I was  1 lb this week. Was a bit disappointed but a lb is a lb :-)
