I know I'm being picky here but 6 months on isn't this year!   ;-)  As I originally said!

No I think you misunderstood me. 6 months from the birth which I think was in June makes December. :)

I am actually breeding my mini again who had one puppy 8 months ago.  It isnt ideal however she had one male puppy last time and I want a bitch. Had she had one bitch I probably wouldnt have bothered doing it again this soon.

I have a friends whos bitch comes in season once every 14 months so I suppose it is all relative really it would still be on a consecutive season but just with a big gap.

I think it is up to you to judge your own breed and dogs best. :)

> Unfortunately, this is not the case. I reported a Licensed Breeder to the Kennel Club who had had 2 litters from two bitches 5 months a part, 2 litters from two bitches 6 months apart and 2 litters from > three bitches 7 months apart. (All in the same quarter). They did not want to know and I have to say were very sharp mannered on the phone when I reported it.  When I further wrote my complaint  > they sent me a letter of 'no interest'. Luckily the Council were far more concerned for the bitches and he has received an official warning. BTW these were Labradors and all were good sized litters.

That is good to know - as you know I reported it to the Kennel Club too - only by letter rather than phone. They said they couldn't do anything - but whoever had written the response seemed by the tone to have some feeling that she felt they ought to be able to do something but couldn't, if you see what I mean.

I didn't know which council to report to - addresses not being included in the BRS (which was what the KC suggested to me as it sounded like a breach of licensing regs for someone breeding that number of litters), but am very glad they have taken it seriously.

The Kennel Club allows six litters per bitch to be registered, with the bitch being aged between 1-8yrs. So puppy farmers breeding from KC reg unendorsed dogs can start at 1, breed on every season, have six litters KC reg then either dispose of unwanted stock or continue with unregistered litters....
