I called her Shannon because the hospital where I had her was Northern General in Sheffield- the labour/maternity dept was lovely and they had the song 'River Shannon' by Foster & Allen playing over the radio, high on gas & air:) when they asked what I was calling her I said 'River Shannon', seeing no problem with that remembering 'River Phoenix', then later dropped the 'River' part when my senses kicked back in:D Until that moment she was going to be called 'Jennifer', shortened to 'Jenny'. Kane's another story but I wanted to call him 'Mark Anthony' but people would have shortened it to 'Mark'. Both my parents-in-law are Irish, my other half is called Sean, pronunced 'Shaun':)

We are hijacking this nice thread to talk about names :D
My youngest child (of 5) is a son aged 8 and he is called Conor (spelt the Irish way - single *n*) as I wanted an Irish name after having had Lucy , Luke , Thomas and Sophie

Conor is what my Mum wanted me to call Kane. I don't really know how 'Kane' came to be actually- I think it was Sean's sister suggesting names one day and said Shane, Dwayne, and Wayne and Kane came into it. He's always being akward from the start- being born at 3:56am and 3 weeks early! I'd been having the pains like you do all day on the Mon then on the Tue they turned to contractions so he was born early hours on Wed (Wed child is full of woe;)) still at 12:30 midnight we'd not finalised a name and as I'd not had much sleep since Sunday, I fell asleep almost instantly after having him- I then woke up to find a name tag round his ankle saying 'Kane'! I also liked 'Kahl' for him (Cal?) but I'm not overly keen on Callum plus all my Mum's family are Scottish and there Surname's McCallum so I wanted a different spelling- coming up with 'Kahlum'. To cut a long story short we've got 'Kane Kahlum Sean Richardson' on his birth certificate. It would have been easier to have 3 boys like you for all his names:)
Sean's the youngest of 7 and they're all named after Saints- Bernadette, Mark, Jacqueline, Annette, Anna, Aidrian and Sean.

P.S; Even after all this time I can't understand a word his Mum says nor can he understand mine:) They've both got very strong accents.

We had the poo problem too, then we stumbled across a minor miracle from Pets at home. It's made by Pedigree, and it's called the 'easy scoop' (I think) £3ish. It's basically like a plastic crocodile clip, and when you use it with nappy sacks (again from the £shop), you get all the poop without even having to feel it through a bag.
Makes the job much more bearable.

Well I am a nappy bag girl myself! Nice scented ones 89p for 300 from my local cheapy store. Just pick em up, tie up the bag, pop it in a carrier then swing it round like a handbag for the rest of my walk! Must admit I am lucky though as my dogs do lovely poo's now they are on a natural diet, nice and dry and hard and in a fascinating variety of pretty colours depending on what was for tea the night before!

Hi all
Have to say - I haven't laughed so much in ages!! :) Had to stop for beer before I could read any more :D :D :D
In our house there are several thoughts on the ' poo patrol'
1) Hubby says 'Why do I always end up doing this - he's YOUR dog!!!
2)I say - 'Why does he ALWAYS have to do it underneath the washing line?!'
3)HE says - 'How can one dog produce SOOOO much?'(He is VERY happy that we are getting a new puppy in a few weeks LOL)
4) I say - 'Why can't he do it in one place - Does he think he has plans for an extension???? :)(He likes to do it on the move? LOL)
On the pickup theory - Hubby prefers the spade & small bin with a platic bag ready to collect all 'hopefully' frozen offerings (He'll be stuffed in the summer LOL :D). In the time it takes him, I find it much quicker to go around with carrier bag in one hand and pretty smelling nappy sacks on the other - I definatly go for the pinch & sqidge theory. Plus the nappy sacks come in a varity of pretty colours to take your mind off what you are really doing!!
Anymore happy hints?

Yes Salem I can't believe you've just said the pinch and squidge theory:D :D :D Must admit though to say the topic I'm amazed at how many popular it is- still it's something we've ALL got to do and ALL got in common:)
