Well I have to come in with a nice expereicne today.

I was walking back from the next suburb to mine with my three girls and the little rescue foster (only third time out on a lead).  almost home a lady was at her gate seeing her cycling friend off.

The cyclist commented that I only had three dogs (the rescue is diminutive and was hidden between two of the others.

I answered that sadly I had lost two over the winter, and explained about the littel foster which pricked their interest.

Cycling lady go off and we went right up to gate where they all leaned and had a fuss.

We talked about the news about the poor Yorkies and that people should only buy from reputable sources (her comment interestingly).

It was only after she had been fondling the dogs for a littel while (including Cara the foster) that she admitted that she was frightened of dogs, but that mine seemed such nice well behaved and freindly souls.

She was comiserating about loosing my girls as she know her 19 year old cat is not long for this world.

For little Car the whole walk was great.  We stopped at my dog trainign freinds house who came out to talk to ehr, then her husband made freinds and her adult son on the way in.

We then walked to the shopping precinct and she came into the Halifax with me (tied the other 3 outside in the pedestrian precinct where I could see them at al times).

We then spoke to several passersby abotu the dog adn the rescue and Cara was quite relaxed as of course they diddn't focus all their attention on ehr but after they heard ehr story patted them all and she of course didn't want to be left out.

So she met about 8 adults and 4 children to talk to, very positive.

The traffic was a bit of a trial for her, but she didn't balk too much bearing in mind her inexperience.

I took my girl afghan Delilah to the park when she was 12 weeks old. An old man came up to me and was ranting on about how disgusting it was for me to own a long haired breed and then to have clipped her hair off !   I told him "SHE HASN'T GROWN IT YET".  he looked pretty embarrassed :D  The thought of a baby afghan being born with a full 10 inch long coat was quite amusing...a bit like "IT" off the Adams Family

I have a Shih Tzu and if I had a £1 for everytime someone says "Its like that dog off the telly" (Paul O'Grady's Buster - I then explain that his is a shih tzu cross) or "Do you call it Buster by any chance", I'd be rolling in money.

i used to have horses, and one day i was riding long a road when my horse stopped for a poop. i tried to get them towards the side of the road as much as possible. but once the tail is fully up and they stop thats it.
a car drove up to my side.wond down its wondow and said. "i hope your going to pick that up"

to wich i replyed
"yeah i have a shuvel in my pocket"

one the feild the other day, i met an elderly man with a brindle cross breed.
the man points at my back bitch and says, that is from the same mother as my dog. look they have the same shape head.
i tried to explain that it was highly unlikely seeing as his dog was 3 years old and mine was 8 months old.
also he said his dog was a staffy x JRTxalsationxwhippet!

i told him my bitch was a colliexlab.
he still felt they were related!

once had a lady ask how old mt dogs were. i said 5 months and she said that they were big for 5 months and was i sure they were only 5 months.

i asked her what she was comparing them to, to come to the deciison they were bog. she owned yorkies

a lot of people say i am the lady with the bullsh*t, becasue puepa is a EBTxLAsa apso.

i get the, you have your hands full comment all the time. especially when i have my 3 year old girl strapped to my back in a carrier and i am walking 3 dogs.

You do get some nice experiences though because on Sunday I went to see a mate in London and Nips had his first trip to the Big City. Which included 3 trains and a London bus, all of which he took in his stride I'm pleased to say. Anyway, in the afternoon we walked down to Streatham Common and on our way to grab a refreshing cup of tea, a woman asked me if I'd let her little daughter stroke him. Little daughter being small enough to need a pushchair but out of it for a little toddle around. I agreed and Nips behaved beautifully. The little girl smiled blissfully and said "Luvly doggie!" Her mother then thanked me and said that she was really keen to make sure her daughter liked dogs but as her first introduction to one, wanted to pick a small dog that "looked nice" and how kind it had been of me to allow the luvly Nips to be stroked.

I think the worse we have had was at dog shows when several people each day would come up to us and ask us if we fed our dog and was it wormed because it looked like he was being mistreat!!!:mad: The vet said he was an ideal weight!!
These were show dog people as well !!!
It really upset me as it continued for months.:mad:

Ive had some real gems from certain people....

Raw feedign WILL make my dogs turn savage, eat children and the cat and attack without warning. Ooooookay..... im still waiting for taht to happen.

'The golden rule is you never have a sighthound and a cat'..... again.... still waiting for teh saluki x to eat the cat adn i think its FAR more likely to be the other way round, should that ever happen.

And the cracker, the thing that will COMPLETELY solve all the problems in my life and turn me magically into the person my parents seem to need me to be.....

"Sell your dogs".

Last id looked the market for broken down tatty old lurchers, scatterbrained x bred puppies, grumpy smelly middle aged staffie x's and evil theiving smelly lurchers.... wasnt exactly sh*t hot.

And tahts once you get past the fact that id hack off my right arm with a rusty breadknife before id 'get rid'......

Oh well :D

Its only a matter of time before them Alsatians turn on you they always do
Any German Shepherd people ever heard that one?
I hate hearing them called Alsatians by the way people always seem to say it with a fierce tone in their voice.
I,ve also heard it said that the police force prefer German Shepherds to Alsatians because they bite harder:rolleyes:

I've been cracking up at these comments! I've had "who is taking who for a walk" (um the plan was me taking them) and "don't you have your hands full" (yes, 3 leads/a poo bag/bottle of water does that) and "watch out for cats" (my cats beat them up).

And the classic "so what breed are they?" Last time I looked, 2 labs and a jack russell.

Mind you whenever kids get too boistrous round them on the streets and ask if they bite I say yes, just to stop my lot getting wound up/poked/prodded/generally too excited. (they never would.)(bite that is.)

Having said that if a mum is with their child (or dad) and they ask if it is ok to pet them I will let them quite happily, what I don't like are children rushing up to them and assuming it is ok.
