This topic has had me giggling too much, im always in a dilema of what to wear??? I have a Red Wheaten RR and we entered a companion show, it was our first one at a church hall? I wore Brown trousers and a white blouse thinking it was smart and all was ok. We got 1st in Puppy ,BPIS and BIS! I was shocked to say the least, it was only afterwards that my sister said when i was stacking her and bending forward to show the judge her teeth my thong was showing as my trousers were hipster and gone lower than my pants :o
It did make me wonder! I didnt even give my underwear a thought, so a note to the girls be careful of trousers, thongs low risers etc...lol

Jelalo,

I often get told off for wearing hipsters and "non-practical" knickers from my mum! She only buys me suits with high waist trousers and skirts now!

Companion shows is normally my worse because I just wear jeans and jumper (or t-shirt if weather is hot....) :D

But your right even underwear has to be given a thought for all ladies.  To think we could call it "show underwear" as well as our "show clothes" and "showing shoes" :)

You've all got me worried now - my Dylan is a dark brindle boxer with white socks do you think a beige suit would look ok ?  Knew I shouldn't go dark as you wouldn't be able to see his line but thinking of his white socks against my beige suit !
- By ice_queen Date 24.09.05 20:55 UTC
I wouldn't worry about beige on white socks on the dog!!!!  I were beige with try aussies (white feet and collar)

Thanks Rox, thought I might have had to pinch OH credit card for a minute there - hang on, how slow am I, no, beige would look terrible with white socks LOL :D

For dark brindle Boxer why not think (depending on your own colouring of course)
red (from all shades to burgundy), grey, plum, green etc. (someone I know shows their
Boxers wearing pink)

Grey is a good colour for those that have dogs that jump up - it tends to hide
muddy paw prints :)

Hi Luvapug - just a quick Pug tip,  not many Pug exhibitors use Bumbags to hold the treats - the norm for Pugs (and lots of Toys) is to carry the treats in a plastic bag, and the whole bag can be used to hold the attention when standing.  Some (including me) use a flat bag, a bit like a loose pocket, which is strung across on a fine cord - these usually have pug pictures  on them :)

thanks for the tips Gwen, where can i buy one of the flat bags from?
- By LucyD [gb] Date 25.09.05 06:38 UTC
Yes, there's a tendency for those bags in Cavaliers too I think, at least I got one when my friend smartened up my show image! :-D

Hi Carol, remember to wear something with a neat fit, nothing to "flappy", you have enough flopping around with all that Yankee coat.  Trousers should not be too much of a problem (as long as you steer clear of very wide flares :) ) If you go for a skirt then make sure it is not too full, neatly tailored  are best, length is up to you, although in the USA lots of handlers look very elegant, and give the dogs an excellent background to show against, by wearing long, slimline skirts with a deepish slit in them, allowing free movement.  Steer away from too much pattern, and remember that dress is much more casual at open shows than Champ shows.

Hi Gwen, thank you for your advice!!! Your description fo the skirt is excellent, I know exactly what type to go for now!!! :) I hope this does not sound too desperate, :D  but have to admit to making a list, from these posts, of clothes to look for, and, (far more important!!!) clothes to AVOID!! at all costs!! And everyone has been so helpful that I feel I could design a few 'show' outfits myself! :D Better start looking soon, only a few weeks to go now!!!!!! will let you know how I get on!!
Carol :)

I don't like black being in season either....3 suits is alot of money...and I can only use it for one breed

OK I have a REALLY bad addiction to suits!
