Those of us who know Tohme, either in the literal sense or like me, just through having read her countless posts on CD, will know she answers in a very blunt manner which may come across as rude but isn't meant that way. She just doesn't mince her words! ;-)

Darling Buds don't dispair, we all have horror stories to tell from our early dog days and I bet if we were honest all of us could own up to moments when we treated our dogs in a way we shouldn't have. :-( Most parents no doubt could do the same. Learn through you mistakes and if unsure there is always someone on here to help. I only wish I lived closer. :-)

P.S. That 'Realistic' member has popped up yet again, check their previous posts I think you will find it is an alias of another CD member to cowardly to post those comments under their own user name. ;-)

Hi Tohme and you all

i didnt take offence and appreciate the logic in which you post. Of course it has many truths and sometimes its only when people use scenarios that one understands fully and thinks of the reasoning behind it.
Last night I went to the classes again just to tell him I wouldnt be attending again. I also used the scenario myself of "I wouldnt beat my baby for doing wrong when it clearly doesnt understand what is right and what is wrong and also whats expected of it" he didnt particulally like it but in my defence another 2 people came with me and we all walked out of the class. I have now passed on the other classes available to them. Thanks for the help in private :) I think they were to frightened to leave and were looking for an excuse. I think I (thanks to you all) were there excuse. One lady was very upset in fact that her dog no longer played with her in fear of being hurt. Hopefully with proper traning and advice this will turn around and she will have a happy dog once again.

I would just like to thank you all for your help. You have made me realise that its good to ? sometimes. having never done anything like this before I can safely tell you that I was wetting myself when I confronted him in front of class. I wanted, no needed to do it in a hope that it would make the others think that its not the right way to go. And although only 2 walked with me I bet he doesnt have the same numbers at class next week. Felt nice though giving him a piece of my mind, I think he was gobsmacked lol.

Thanks once again, no offence taken and I wish ou all the very best with your dogs. i will be sticking around to lurk in the background on the different forums.

god Bless

Danna i just wanted to commend you on your em... niceness,LOL and patience with the replies and everything. You have been great and understanding through out this whole thread :) Alot of people in your situation probaly would have spat the dummy and said 'how dare you tell me i'm doing wrong,or i'm a bad owner' etc. etc. just because the replies were not what they wanted to hear

I hope you have reported this guy?? Good on you for standing up to him for yourself and in the name of all the other dogs that have been mistreated under this monster!

You must be feeling pretty proud of yourself right now ;) :p

Its the second thing I did. i reported him straight away. I beleive the other lady did too. The reason I came here is I dont think its acceptable and definately dont think he should be allowed to get away with it.

I will have to put my faith in the RSPCA now and see if they take action.

Thanks for the message

Danna, you are an absolute star! :)

Not only did you leave the bad classes, but you were strong enough to actually tell the trainer why, and cause 2 people who were also questioning him to come with you!! I expect there were others who didn't dare to go with you, but who will think about what happened and will not return to him.

Well done also for contacting the RSPCA. It will be interesting to see what happens there. If he is  a member of any particular organisation, you may find he can be reported to them too. Some would be very concerned indeed, others not so much, depending on the organisation.

Well done you for being so brave and outspoken :)

Sorry, perhaps I've missed something? Wasn't the instructor a woman at the start of the thread?

Sorry my confusion. They are a married couple actually. The husband does the advanced classes but I rarely get to see him and the lady does the puppies and beginers classes. It was him I spoke to as it was him who encouraged me to hit the first time we met. Also as she was away it was him I spoke to. I will try to find out if they are registered as they wear badges but I havent a clue whats on them.

Sorry about that I agree it looks rater odd lol.

Good for you, Danna! Firstly, for having the awareness and sensitivity to question what, to you, felt wrong; secondly, realising that the posts on here were all backing your judgement (lots of people wouldn't have realised that!); and thirdly for having the courage to confront this trainer in public and saying your bit. Hopefully everyone there will be questioning the things they do with their dogs, and will have a smidgin more understanding and empathy.

I feel that you're going to be fantastic dog owner. Carry on! :)

Well done Danna!  I wish I'd had your courage when I had my first dog.  Your dog is very lucky to have an owner like you.  Hopefully something will be done about this brute!!!!

Kind regards
Annie
