Well done and I hope that the pups are doing well.  Oh well getting anxious about my soon to be pups now, she's not doing anything at the mo. thankfully :d

kara is on her second stage of her labour as i took her to the vet yesterday and he said she was and he said she was doing fine, so we are just keeping our fingers crossed and waiting for her to have the puppies.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 16.07.05 11:40 UTC
Oooh fingers crossed for yoiu.  My girls still not showing signs although she's not due until Monday.  I know that she'll end up starting at 3 tomorrow morning as I've got a breed seminar to go tomorrow and my mum and I do the tombola and sell things for the club!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 16.07.05 14:34 UTC
You mean first stage labour, as second stage is the actual expulsion of pups :D

First stage can lst anthing up to 48 hours and if there is no green discharge signalling placental detachment and no other abnormal signd then she will be fine.

Occasionally a bitch can have utirine Inertia where the expelling contrations never come, and that is when assistance is needed.  there is some evidence that primary inertia will happen again and there is a strong element of heredity among the female offspring of bitches that have had this.

Just got them in whelping box with no bedding and just some paper strips, as it is so warm.  The bitch wouldn't leave the vet bed inplace and I was worried about them getting underneath.

She has got the hang of checking where all the pups are before lying down digging at the paper to check, so i think we are pretty well past the crushing danger, now she is rested.

I hadn't slept at all since Wednesday night and then poorly next to the whelping box.  Went to bed last night at 9pm, woke up about 2am and couldn't get back to sleep so went on computer.  About 4am went back to bed for a couple of hours but was lettign Mum out for the toilet from 6am.  Went back to bed at about 10am and dozed until lunchtime.

I'll take some next week.  At the moment Mum won't ahve any vet bed in with them so black whelping tray base and strips of newpaper son't make for good photos of nearly black pups :D

To give you an idea you can see some baby pics on my website of previous litters.

Oh what fun, now you got to decide which birthday to register them as :D  I wanted to register a litter born overnight with their appropriate birthdays but the KC said they all have to be the same date :D
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 17.07.05 20:40 UTC
Well done to you both for the expectant mother :d  Think it's going to be tomorrow.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 17.07.05 22:56 UTC
It better be, once they go over then I am realy worried so always hope they come before due date.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 17.07.05 21:40 UTC
Go for the later date. Mine have always been born overnight, so they'vve been registered from the date the last one was born. (Thank heavens they're not racehorses, whose official birthday is always 1st January.
:)

I am going for the 17th july as only one was born on the 16th july, so it isn't going to be that hard really, I think they have there days and nights mixed up as they sleep all day and are awake all night so i will try and get some sleep during the day, some of them are black and tan and some are all black. there weight weren't that bad either 6 boys weighed at a 1lb,one of the girls weighed a 1lb, the other girl weighed in at 1lb 2ozs, and the last boy weighed at 1lb 4ozs. Kara was due on friday the 15th july but she started on saturday night at 9.30 pm the first one was born at 10 15 pm then the last pup she delivered on sunday morning at 8 04 am.
