Hattie is still no better after three months, still giving her pancrex powder with her meals, feeding her on id food from vet, james wellbeloved dried food, fresh chicken breasts - boiled,  and ordinary dog food, she is still loosing weight, after more blood tests the vet has said she has a liver problem, so she has to go back in for more tests, first of all before she eats, then the same tests after she has eaten.  She still seems to have plenty of energy but seems to be getting more uncomfortable which is probably due to her bones sticking out.  Has anyone been through the same sort of thing.

we need to give her up to three tins a day plus five teaspoons of pancrex power twice a day,

Hattie, how many spoons of powder per meal are you giving? I had problems for a while but it turned out she was intolerant to what she was eating. Not saying this is the case with yours, but just wondered how many meals, and how many spoons per meal. Are you weighing the food? We started with 5ml powder per 100 grams of food, now its been reduced to 3ml spoons per 100 grams. Can you give her just one of the afore mentioned foods just in case one isn't agreeing with her?

Our 22month old border collie Brock, has been treated for compylabacter (3 times) and also EPI. His count wasn't that low, 6.0, but sufficiently low for the vets to put him on Pancrex powder, 1tsp per 100g of food. He's also on the I/D diet from Hills. Our vet thinks that despite being treated for compylabater 18 months ago it has stayed in his gut to give some of the symptoms below. His weight is currently 16.2kg (at a year it was 18kg and just right for height, size, age etc. He's a tall border collie and his optimium weight is between 20-26kg. Every bone in his body is feelable. However, he has as much energy as usual, is training to take part in working trials, coat's glossy, eyes bright. The only symptoms are diarrhoea every 7-8 weeks, no weight gain, lowish count. We've had him since a pup and none of the litter has this problem. When he was changed from 4 meals to 3, from puppy to young dog food, any change at all including worming, he had diarrhoea. He's an ace traveller having been to France twice and I would say laid back. He has been fed on Burns chicken and rice dry food for the past 9 months apart from this last 4 weeks on Hills. Since the last bout before Christmas, had soft poos, formed but difficult to pick up, but less of it. I would appreciate any information/ideas/solutions.
Thanks

Ask your vet to put him on antibiotics like metro (Metronidazole )for at least a month as he could have SIBO which unfortunately goes hand in hand with EPI.
Will send pm with more details

Interesting, thank you. Am seeing the vet on Wednesday so will discuss this with him. Don't think the Pancrex is doing anything as he isn't gaining weight and has been on it for 6 weeks. He also has a voracious appetite, wonder if wet food may be the answer. Also have Brock on Lomotil 1 tablet twice a day.

For support to the liver and kidneys, I would heartily recommend Hilton Herbs "Puriphy" It has been a great help on one of my dogs that is on daily Pancrex.  Jean
