Yep, - although a slightly strange description (LOL) it sounds promising - if it is a puppy en route you should feel her straining very soon I should think :) Now we're all going to be up all night :D
Teri, praying all's going to start going text book like for you now :)

christine, just found this post, any news on your new arrivals yet??? i know what you mean about the waiting for puppies to be born
since i am local in this area if you want any help or advice send me a private message & i can give you either my phone no or e-mail address
im no vet but will help anyway i can if needed, the offer is there
p.s. what breed is this you have ???

Hi Spaniel mad,
What a lovely offer - great that Christine has someone nearby in case she just needs someone to chat on the phone to or hold her hand :) Good news is she's been off-line for the past 25 minutes or so so here's hoping it's because she's drying off the first or even second puppy by now :P I remember all too well how worrying it all was and yet my girl did everything by the book - still had me panic-stricken though until all were safely delivered and suckling.
Hope she doesn't need further assistance but you're an absolute star for offering. Regards, Teri :)
ps. I don't know what breed Pepsi is either
Hya, I,ve not been off line. I've just realised that I know spaniel mad. We went to school together, so I've PM her. Pepsi is just starting to get a little bit more vocal. She must be getting bigger pains now. Here's hoping. Will keep all you kind people posted, must go as she's starting to cry for me.

Oh don't worry about us Christine - great you know the other poster personally too :D I just KNOW this is all going to start moving in the right direction now ;) Phew, feeling relieved already! Can't (but of course will) wait for an update.
Sending gentle {{{Hugs}}} to your girl- keep the Rescue Remedy handy for both Pepsi and yourself - luv Teri x

christine you are not gonna believe this, i said to my other half earlier tonight when i read you post that i went to school with someone of your name & little did i know at that time that it is you, now how was that for chance...lol
please feel free to call me or e-mail me shirley@bordacity101.wanadoo.co.uk
weeeeeeeeeeheeeeeeee. number one is here, should i leave her to get on with it for a while
By Teri
Date 16.05.05 01:01 UTC

Yipppppeeeeeee :) Boy or girl?
Yes, she make take a few minutes break or could take a couple of hours - just stick with her and reassure her (after you fill us in quickly on the sex!

congrats mummy...lol welcome on the new arrival from a personal view i would stay with her throughout. a lot of breeders i know leave bitches to get on with it, but i personally stay with my bitches right throughout as to also keep a count on the afterbirths & close at hand is help is needed
Its trying to feed but pepsi keeps moving it to near her face so she can keep an eye on it. Should I try and put it to a teat again or leave them to get on with it and just watch.

I put my pups on right away because it helps bring on new contractions when they suckle - have you any idea how many she's expecting?

you will prob find that pepsi will not settle down with puppies until all are here, sounds like another puppy on the way,i always try latch my puppies on right away, you could try putting puppy on a teat & watching to see what happens, but sometimes they wont feed till mum settled, if you pm me your phone no i will give you a ring in the morning, but like i said if you need that extra support whatever the time day or night pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ring me
did you have her scanned at all to see how many approx to expect
She was scanned as having at least 6. First one is a boy (I think) brindle.

Date 16.05.05 01:48 UTC

Oh well you could be in for a long night :) On the other hand now that she knows what's going on she may be more prepared for what to do when her next contractions start - it must be mind boggling for them when you think about it but of course Mother Nature does seem to kick in ;)
I just know I'm not going to be able to sleep although I should certainly have been in bed by now :D Everything crossed here for you that all goes smoothly and doesn't take too long. Our girl was scanned as having 5, seemed quite a clear and positive scan too, but she ended up having EIGHT  thanfully the last 3 were born within minutes of each other!
Teri x

any news on puppy number 2 yet?????????
no nothing yet. how long do you usually wait for no2. any idea? puppy is suckling.

christine i generally say if no next puppy arrives within 2 hours of previous born puppy then you need to ring vet, sometimes a bitch needs a shot of oxytocin to get things moving again, dont want to get you worried & am sure puppy 2 will be here soon

You still pacing the floor too? :D Had a little surf around your web Shirley - your dogs are beautiful and of course your little girl too ;)
Now I'm reduced to trying to think of newsy items for breed notes - but can't quite keep my mind on the job ..... Aaaw, don't puppies just get you like that. Soooo hope it's going well for them.
regards, Teri

thanks teri, yeah my Little princess is our pride & joy, love her to bits & the dogs think shes the best thing going, she loves to spend time outside playing with them with toys, especially the doggie balls, shes as mad as they are, they say springers are mad, these are CRACKERS
well its 3.50 and still no number2. mum is panting and the occational straining.should i ring the vet.

christine sounds like the straining could be more contractions so a puppy not far away i would think, give her another 30 mins, if still no puppy then ring vet yes, even if just for advice, better to hear it from a pro i guess, i know exactly what you are going through right now & hope puppy shows soon
am stopping up till after puppy 2 arrives then i will head off to bed, will ring you in morning to see how things are going
Sorry to keep you up this late, I bet your knackered.

am tired yes but will help anyone i can...thats what us breeders are all about, helping a fellow breeder with support & advice any way we can, just a shame i cant drive or i would of been out there to give you a hand
dont apologise for keeping me up, i would do this for anyone

Hi girls,
Had hoped another puppy or two would have made an appearance by now - is mum appearing overly tired? I think I'd be inclined to chat to the vet over the phone - give him/her a full description of how Pepsi is doing and how long things have been going on - just to get some feedback. I've heard of bitches going four hours between and then starting up again so it's not necessarily a huge cause for concern but if she's very weary she may just need a little help.
good luck, Teri

yeah i agree, if still no puppy christine ring vet now & like teri says give vet a complete update as to all the goings on

not heard from christime for over 30 mins now so maybe puppy 2 here
i remember my older springer bitch with 1 of her litters years ago, during the night we had about 3 trips back & forward to the vets,

Hopefully she's towelling it down as we write ;) She's going to need a shot of something herself when they're eventually all here - that's when the real sleepless times kick in ......
Think I'm going to have to dig out some RR for myself in a minute :P Teri
no2.a white bitch. was a bit snuffley bit swung it about a little bit to help and now seems fine.

Hi again Christine,
Wonderful - Pepsi seems to have stepped up a gear now :) I'm very relieved for you. It will be such a busy spell just now that you won't have had time for the full emotions to kick in but when they are eventually all born and curled up contented with mum you'll be overwhelmed at how exhausted but elated you manage to feel all at once.
Hopefully having some cyber-comfort has helped you get through the worst of the night! I think I may have to follow in the footsteps of your more experienced mid-wife and head for bed now before the birds currently chirping in the background burst into full song!
I'm sure everything will be fine now but if you have ANY concerns or if Pepsi seems to be over tired, give your vet a call - no phone call is ever a wasted one. Night night (at gone 5-00 am!!!) to the furbies. Will check in later to see how all's doing. regards, Teri :)
now on puppy 6. what a mixed bag. whites, red, dark brindle and flashy mahogany. wait now to see if any more. we are shattered. actually pepsi is quite perky considering.now6.30.

Morning Pepsi Mum - what fab news! Hope Pepsi is ok - I'm sure she (and you!) must be really exhausted by now, but what a good job.
My admiration goes out to Teri and Spaniel Mad for staying up as late as they did to support you.
Give us all a run down on colours and sex when you have rested some. Bless you all!
Vicki

Pepsi has had two more puppies but unfortunatly one of them was still born despite attempts to revive it. I tried toweling it, blowing air then I tried the hot and cold water but nothing worked. I don,t think it took a single breath. Number seven was a little flat aswell but managed to get it going and now it's feeding well. We are left with a beutiful mixed bunch of colours and they are wonderful. Pepsi is wonderful, she did it all herself. I hardly got a look in when it came to counting the plasantas. Well it will be off to the vets for mum and babies later. OH has offered to stay off work for the day to help me look after the kids. How thoughtful.

Wonderful news - sad about the one you lost, but the rest are healthy so count your blessings. Nice of OH to stay off work - he neds to really as you will need to get some rest now - you must be exhausted. Try and get a few hours sleep before heading off to the vet.
Really happy for you, and look forward to pics as and when you get a chance LOL :) :D

Sorry about the loss of a puppy, but she's doing very well. Nine!! Just a thought. Would it not be better if you got the vet. to come out to you, rather than taking them all in to him/her??
Hope all keeps going well. Give Pepsi a hug from me for being such a clever girl :D
Anne
Number ten just arrived. The biggest yet. Flashey brindal.
