In a draught proof kennel with heating its no different to leaving them alone in a kitchen (which can be surprising cool when the CH goes off) is it? But then some would say that was cruel too ;)

Kazza i'm sorry you didnt like my post, but as i said it is just my personal opinion, you can take it or leave it,not everyone is going to like the advice theyr'e given and i am definately not one to write what i think "the poster" WANTS to hear, nor will i go along with the general pack just to keep the peace when it's something i just dont agree with :)
If my post offended you i would hate to see how you would deal with the full on slanging matches that sometimes go on here :D
Bottom line,No i dont like the idea of "outside dogs" what is the point of having a dog if it's going to live outside and the family lives inside, part time love and cuddles do not a good dog make :) What about housetraining? This would be difficult to achieve when the dog spends most of his time outside??
I'm not going to beg you to stay, the intention of my post was not to get you or anyone else on side or to make you feel good,i will always speak the truth and not everyone will like it,but thats what makes a forum a good one, different opinions :) You must have a "thick skin" if you want to participate,i guess ;) Sensitive, easily offended folk dont seem to last long :(
This is a simple breakdown of how I,me,myself see your situation: Allergic child-get a dog......tiny 9 week old pup that family begged for....segregate pup from family and let it live outside.
Maybe instead of sooking about how you dont like my post you could clarify EVERYTHING in ONE post, then maybe we can get a better idea of exactly what your intentions are :)

"You must have a "thick skin" if you want to participate,i guess Sensitive, easily offended folk dont seem to last long "
Is there any wonder.
Rose there is stating your opinion and there is condemning someone because you don't agree with perfectly acceptable canine management.
No-one is advocating isolation for a puppy, or suggeting that someone should get a puppy in the posters position. The poster already has a dog and is trying their best to cater for the dogs and her families needs, they need not conflict.
Also there is outside dogs and outside dogs, and some circumstances where outsdie housing will not work.
Rather than condemn if you feel as you do why not make a positive suggestion rather than condemn. In your view this may be an usuitable home situation, so offer a solution rather than condemnation :D

Brainless,i'm not sure there is a solution to this situation, whats your advice?

Well there are basically two. :D
1).Make the most of the situation, andf most posters are giving practical suggestions.
or:
2).Rehome/return the dog to the breeder.
I can only assume from your posts you are for the latter option, then why not say so, rather than give the poster a hard time.

Kazza,
Just to cut through some of the nonsense. Many dogs can adapt exceptionally well to being kennelled. In many cases an outdoor kennel and run can provided a better solution for both dog and owner than an indoor crate.
I get a huge amount of pleasure from owning, training and working dogs. However, I have no desire to be surgically attached to them 24/7, and choose not to have them constantly in the house (let alone the bedroom!). I have one dog that 'sleeps in', the rest are kennelled. There is no difference in the health, happiness or well-being between them, and certainly no difference in their attitude to me.
However, some things to watch out for. Some breeds adapt better to kennel life, mine are gundogs and I doubt that you would find more than a few dogs in their pedigree that have actually lived in. Some breeds cope far less well with periods of isolation.
Dogs left in a kennel tend to be very 'bouncy' when they are let out. This can make the dog a bit of a handful when let into the house, which needs careful management. The end result can be that the dog gets put back into the kennel because it is too lively, and a vicious circle results in the dog being allowed in the house less and less, and consequently becoming more and more of a handful each time it is let in.
I'd suggest that if you want to use a kennel (or a crate), you make it part of the normal routine of the puppy to be put in a number of times a day, for short periods. Not just when you need to leave them. If you put them in when they are tired, they are most likely to curl up and go to sleep. Make sure that the pup is getting plenty of time with you and the family, and all the normal training and socialisation.
The fact that you have gone to the trouble of seeking advice, suggests to me that you should be able to find a compromise that you and your puppy will be happy with.

Sense at last :D

thanks for your comments havoc! we have ordered a crate for her and we are going to try to house train her with that so thanks to everyone for your opinions it has got totally out of hand some of it, but most of you would be pleased to know we are keeping her inside and when she is older!! i mean an adult then if we decide to put her outside i.e. in a kennel with all the facilitys she needs then thats entirely up to us !!!!!!!!!! AND ROSE YOU MAY SEE THE SITUATION LIKE THAT BUT IT AINT ,LIKE I SAID BEFORE I MAY HAVE WORDED MY POST ALL WRONG I SURE WILL BE CAREFUL NEXT TIME I NEED ADVICE

I hope all goes well for you, your pup and your son with his allergy.
Please don't hesitate to come back if you need any help again. Once you have filtered through the side debates there is usually some very good advise to be had here.

The above is a similar product. They are very good. I have two pens with this type of heating for pups i am either caring for for friends or have myself.
Excellent thanks for that I shall have a look :)
They are like giant heat mats, they dont really heat the kennel but keeps puppy warm.
