why didnt she just say that then!!!??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
personally i love meeting even distant relations of my dogs-just have to share the same GGgrand parent or something!!
luckily my friend is a Border collie bloodlines expert,so i have lots of info to look at,also as the obedience world is fairley smallish (&i get around!!) i get to see lots of dogs that share the same lines & traits, its interesting to see some of the behaviours continuing through the lines, even in cousins etc.

Well exactly!!
I'm like you, except that as I only have my dogs as pets the only other weimaraners (and their owners of course) that I meet are on the very rare occasion there's another one in the park I go to...that's why I was so interested.
The closest I've ever come, apart from seeing their relatives at the breeder, is a picture I found of my 3 yr olds g-grandmother on the internet (how sad am I?!).
Anyway...it's all over and done with now...maybe there's somewhere else that I can post on the site to chat to other weim owners?

i expect there are!!!!!-loads you should do a search!

rarely see them down here,we used to have a lady that had two LHs but that was years ago.

there was obvisley some sort of "accident" as theres a litter of WeimX lab, like weims in colour, but just heavier with different heads. there seems to be lots of vizlas here though.

my nellie has a really famous granddad, hes in all the bc breed books, which i collect.

i dont think its sad at all, nice to be interested in your dogs heritage.

what lines are yours from?

Mine are distantly related, they are both from Sireva/Gunalt/Wipfel lines...both have the same GG-Grandad an American champion Nani's Totally Awesome...
Both parents of my oldest are Hordon weims and our pup has a Wipfel dam and Roxberg sire...think I've seen Roxberg on the site before...

I must admit...it was one of the reasons we picked our dogs...like I said before they are just pets, but we wanted to know that we were getting properly bred dogs...

"just pets" is ok you know!!!!!!
im really competitive-was when i had horses too! so i really need a outlet,-obedience suits me perfectly!
saying that ,tara & nell have retired now-so i guess they are "just pets" too!

do you go to any dog club though,???cos its really good fun socially, even if you dont want to compete

I know...I have a 2 yr old son too, so he takes up most of my time!
Not joined any dog clubs yet...though I have got some details of ones in my area...think it would be worthwhile...
I tried horses too...well I started riding lessons last year, but fell badly and haven't had the nerve to go back...!!

There is a link between SH and Lh and some short haired weims are carriers of LH but a completley diffenrent subject.

I own a weimaraner too, she is fed on Burns Fish and brown rice and is looking fantastic on it.

She was fed on pedigree tinned food a while ago now but she was always very thin no matter how much she was fed and always had problems with her stools.

Since being on burns she has gained weight and her coat is fantastic and I am also happy with its contents. I have also been a little concerned with the lack of oil but we feed her evening meal with a tin on tuna or sardines which is what gives her coat the fantastic shine I think.

If you contact burns they will give you a few samples.

Hi, I also have Weimaraner, a 14 month old male, who had major loose bowel problems with three episodes of blood in the stools. Since moving to Burns chicken & brown rice he has had no bleeding  and is only occasionaly loose (this is normaly traced back to my husband feeding him titbits). I do not add any thing to his food and he is in great condition with a lovely shine to his coat.
