With regard to feeding, one of mine that has occasional bouts of colitis does a lot better on a food containing probiotics, such as Fromm, Eaglepack or Royal Canin. Still quite expensive, but it's worth paying to know that he'll eat it virtually all the time. Or you can give him some yakult. I wouldn't swap and change his food too much though as this will aggrevate his bowel too. Treats are another thing to watch as certain things might trigger his colitis.

I have put him on puppy meat with charcoal mixed in. He has been pooping solid. So looks like things are going great!
