Dont leave the thread or whatever on my account Moonmaiden.
The thread is "only" 9 days old, and about 5th on the list - new to me though -
I thought I was allowed to add posts?
You dont even know my position on the original question - how do you know I dont agree with you?

I was only asking you some questions on a couple of points you raised.
Questions raised were questions asked, not questions imagined, so you've no need to take offence.

First question - fair play - if one lot of police have told you one thing, so be it.
At Keston they told me what i've reported.  I do rescue too, that's why i was invited to their passing out parade, and given a guided tour - along with others.
Can't remember the name of the breeding manager I spoke to, but then, I can never remember anyone's name, but I remember well the breeding manager pointing across the yard and saying "he's the other breeding manager, which people find funny as "both" breeding managers have 5 kids"!!!

Second question - in reaction to Russett's post you quote is actually
"However *you* as a member of the general public are under the misaprehension that they are guard dogs because they are used by people incorrectly". .
So, as I know Russett *and* yourself *and* many on the forum are *dog workers*,
I wanted to know where you were coming from with this comment?
I imagined that you had specific unique GSD experience which would therefore make you "non-public" and Russett "general public", as it were.
Ditto the other way round, for running a boarding kennels Russett would be "non-public" in this context, and you would be "general public"

I find it amusing.

"So now I know nothing about running boarding kennels"
Eh? - where n'the hell did i write this?  What's all this defensive stuff?
I only asked you some questions, you've answered them, thank you.
How come you think everyone's posts contains code aimed at belittling your experience, instead of just the content they have?
They only disagree with your opinion, I dont think anyone cares about your CV -
lots of us have careers with dogs.

For clarification, if I worked for a record company, and was explaining public misconceptions, I would say '"the general public think", but I probably wouldn't use this phrase if explaining the same misunderstanding to someone working in a record shop - their experience is not quite relevant, but related enough not to say "you might think this because you are a member of the general public".

As it's written, cheers, Kiwi

Sorry you are wrong there I would not be GP when it comes to Boarding kennels nor Recording Studios either

BTW the Met were breeding their own dogs back in the 70's & rarely took gifted/rescue dogs back then as they had already realized the fall out rate for these dogs far exceeded dogs from working backgrounds bred to do the job I cannot see they would have gone backwards in their thinking on this, they did take one gifted dog back then that I know of but he was by my dog out of a Dorset polce bitch

Hi Moonmaiden - I'm glad we're on the same wavelength at last.
Absolutley agree when it comes to your expereince you are not general public,
but as I said, neither is Russett, or myself, and probably others, as we all have worked/career based expereince. Just from different angles, so none of our opinions would be said because that is just what members of the public think, but they are grounded in our experiences of our dog work.
Dammit - just cant find an analogy where you aren't there on the inside!! (LOL)
Have you made any records, or worked in a studio with anyone well known?
The police breed programme history - wouldnt know anything about this, I only know what they tell me from Keston.
One of their kennel hands was at my rescue today - he was saying it's a bit of both. They always bred their own dogs for temperemant, etc, but still took lots of gifted dogs, but when this dried up, it prompted them to enlarge and prioritise their breed programme.
Steve Dene is still the "formal' manager, but their is another guy who is his right hand man who basically manages too and would probably take over if Steve Dene left.
Interesting point my friend told me - did you now that Steve Dene has actually bred Hip Dysplacia out of his GSD's?  Ppretty impressive, eh

cheers, kiwi

PS Moonmaiden - how do you get bold on your posts?

Interesting at breeding out the HD completely very impressive but not what the KC BRS shows in the GSD hip scores as the Metpol reg dogs still have HD scores over 0 which means they still have HD(both my studs were 0:0=0) & the dogs trained on TV certainly had at least one that didn't make it because of bad HD so perhaps he hasn't totally bred it out, but has brought down his scores-I'm sure he would shout it from the rooftops if he had eraditated it totally & show that the UK can outdo the country of origin were testing is compulsory & has been for longer than I care to remember. & of course two 0 dogs bred together have been known to produce scoring off spring-Just had a thought has he added racing greyhounds to his breeding program as they re according to research the only breed not to have HD(from a study of 1,500 racing greyhounds done some time ago);) If he has managed it I wonder why it has not be relayed to other forces Steve was never backwards at coming forward for publicity purposes. They do screen gifted dogs for HD before accepting them now & turned down a son from my german import because of his colour ! Another force grabbed him with both hands-he was scored 0:0=0 before he was offered to them, he grew too big for the show ring & was returned to his breeder. He is actually behind a lot of that forces current dogs(no he ws not white) & he was bought by the force

As to music no one famous as I was part of the 60's/very early 70's folk record scene when everyone was making records in very small studios-did once sing with the Spinners tho' & the Dubliners & yes they did get progressively more drunk through the night, but they sang/performed better for it. Did  a bit of backing singing as well but no one that hit the top 10.
