Hello Guys!
My babies love pigs ears, the three of them had a box of 50 to share for xmas, still got plenty left tho, dont want to give them too many tho. Sometimes gives them runs :-( Have you tried cows ears?, they also love them they only have them every so often for a treat, plus they last longer (which keeps them quite)
Iv given mine pizzels, but they don't half stink!! so Janska only gets them when she comes to work with me, it helps when you work in a pet shop:-)

My grandmother used to cook cow's brains with onions and bacon. Told my sister and I they were scrambled eggs, but having once spotted the main ingredient before she broke it up in the pan - that was the end of fooling us.
She also used to pickle pigs feet and both she and my mother would cook cow's tongue. After a while my mother gave up on the tongue, two hysterical children at the dinner table put an end to that menu item.

Hi Sal had them when she was little but doesn't get them at all now....mostly my doing as she almost choked on a large piece she tried to swallow.
I agree if they were raw and fresh from a butcher I would give it to her.

lol @ how this thread has turned out. I could never, ever watch my dogs eat either a
whole rabbit, lungs, brains..whatever.. YUK

Sorry I can't think of anything worse than hearing a pan bleating - urgh!
I shall think myself lucky next time I give him a pigs ear (cooked, deep fried - whatever :D) Anyway was a very interesting read, so cheers :)

When I referred to brains and spinal cord, I was not referring to dogs eating them! One of my daughter's favourite dishes when she was small was braised lamb brains, in a little water, lemon and bay leaf. Also spinal cord is very delicious.
Unfortunately in the UK you are unable to source this material, if indeed it was safe. I used to shop cook testicles too :D

You meant you gave them to a child??? God forgive you ! roflmao. :D What a shame how things have changed though as the majority of kids wouldn't look at a dish like that never mind eat it!!
I do remember eating tripe as a kid though covered in vinegar.
When I was a kid a few of my friends loved brawn.....on toast or in buttys didn`t matter
Didn`t mind a dripping butty with a bit of salt myself, but only me mums dripping mind you ;) :D :D

It always amazes me what mothers feed to their children. My Mum said she used to puree chicken livers for me as a baby - YUUUKK. Probably very nutritious, but she never ate them!
I was told once pigs ears are full of salt, so I only occasionally give them to Saffy. There is no way she would touch a raw one though. I once gave her some raw chicken wings (trying to start on a barf diet!) - they must have made her feel ill as she wont touch any raw food now!
