Hi. I'm Karen - used to live near Preston Lancs and moved to Just outside Louth Lincs 12 months ago. Have now a HUGE renovating task on our hands. Have been married for a very long time but have no furless children. Have 3 wheaten terriers. Both hubby and I are self employed (though I don't really do that much on that side) and work from home. Lurked a lot at first, posted once, and now theres no stopping me. :D

Hi, I'm Juliet and live just north of Portsmouth with my husband of 16 years. We originally come from Gloucestershire and have been living here for 3 years.

We have Bronwyn, our German Shorthaired Pointer, who is 1 on Saturday, and Ellis will be joining us in a couple of weeks. He is a solid liver GSP and is 4 weeks old at present.

We have three cats, George, Chloe & Megan, a Harris Hawk (Dyna), a Saker Falcon (Mr Bojangles or Jo for short), and eight ferrets five of which have names, Harry, Big Boy, Litt'lun, Tother & Tomadoe the other three are still to be named.

Thankfully no children through choice.

Juliet :)

Hi, I'm Karen, have posted a few times but don't think i have every introduced myself.
I have 4 bullmastiffs, Alfie & Chester who are litter brothers, Lollie and Macy who are mum and daughter, i also share my life with hubby Kevin ( who puts up with alot, bless him) been together 18yrs which isn't bad for a holiday romance, we have two children both boys aged 8 and 10, one of which has 2 pet rats and the other could be getting one of christines Lovebirds (parott thread) if things work out. We live in Haslemere surrey and i work part time at Kingston Univ in the library. But it's the bullies that i really live for.
Karen.

Hi to everyone,
Great idea this, I keep forgetting who everyone is. :)

I live on the edge of Bradford, West Yorks. Been married 21 years and have two boys, 18 and 15. We have a small herd of beef suckler cows (sorry any Veggies, they are kept naturally as poss. and grass fed, though!). At present we have 15 cattle ( had more, but F+M made us decide to reduce numbers), a multitude of free range hens ( = eggs and poo everywhere!!), 2 cats, 1 guinea pig and my lovely 6 year old Springer, Bess.

My name is Sarge and I am a Dobermann. I live in a biliously decorated troglodyte cave in the Midlands with 2 fully grown troglads, Stu and Norm and their mums. I write the occasional post but am often too busy with my job as Emeritus Professor of Physics at the Max Planck Institute in Heidlberg.

I am in love with Naomi Wolf ;) but, sigh! like Germaine Greer she is unobtainable for me. Recently though I have acquired a nice girlfriend who is a voluptuous chihuahua called Oprah.

I want to be Michael Owen. :D

- By LJS Date 09.10.03 16:20 UTC
Nice to know a bit more about you Sarge !

My mother is Germaine Greer, do you want me to set up a date for you ?

That is if Oprah doesn't mind ;)

- By rachaelparker [gb] Date 09.10.03 12:48 UTC
posting far less than usual at the moment so I guess theres quite a few neebies who dont know me
My names Rachael (what do you mean you'd guessed already :) ) I have an annoying fiancee called Stuart and a fantastic (but naughty) 11 month old choccie lab called Darcy
I have 2 cats Emily and Lucy and 2 kittens called Beemer & Chevy
The kittens are named after my fiancees race car which is a BMW with a chevrolet engine! The names were his condition for me keeping them!!!! :D

I'm a complete animal hyperchondriac and constantly come on here with posts about Darcys mysterious ailments, which both Darcy and Stuart say I imagine but I'm still not convinced

I volunteer for labrador rescue as a homechecker and thats about it!!

- By JulietCW [gb] Date 09.10.03 16:35 UTC
Juliet, got to ask, seeing as you live nr Portsmouth, does your other half (sorry, think you mentioned you had one of those!!) ever exercise his Harris Hawk on Southsea Common?

I lived down there until very recently and used to see a gentleman with a Harris Hawk there and talked to him a couple of times. My Staff bitch was fascinated by it! My 2 young Staffs have yet to meet anything quite like it!

Sorry to be so nosy it's just you don't generally hear of too many people having birds of prey so seemed like a spooky coincidence!

Juliet (yes, another one!)

P.S. Meant to add, lurk occasionally and post occasionally...have 3 Staffs: 2 yr old bitch, Lily and her two sons, Marmaduke and Beetle both 10 wks old now; 2 cats, Ollie and Caffrey's and a horse...oh and lovely boyfriend too!
- By GSPMUM [gb] Date 10.10.03 10:47 UTC
Juliet

Thanks for the interest. No he has never been down to Southsea common, I would guess it would be too busy for him. We tend to go North as we have more permission there. The land owners are more countryfied than the southerners and understand what's going on.

If you don't mind me asking where have you moved too?

Juliet

- By Andi20 [gb] Date 09.10.03 18:14 UTC
Hello

I'm Andi. I'm 36 and I have four 'children', 19, 14, 13 and 12. The rest of my family (in order of purchase) are Bobby an 8 year old Netherland Dwarf Lop, Boots an 11 year old 14.2hh Cob who thinks he's related to Red Rum, Holly and Katie, fantastic 3 year and 61/2 week Bichons and Phillips and Harriet two 2 year old 'posh' goldfish who I swear are more intelligent than people ive them credit for. Been married to Andy for twelve years (who claimed when I met him that he 'wasn't keen' on animals!!!- soon sorted that out!). I wanted a dog since I was 8 when my uncle bred Retrievers but was not in a position to have one myself until my mum and step dad retired (as I work full time) by which time I had discovered Bichons. My mum bought Holly's litter brother Harvey because he liked us every time we visited. Aiming to 'retire' at 45 when I intend to expand my pet family as hopefully the kids will have moved on!

Hello! I live in Orkney, a.k.a. the Twilight Zone (possibly the most northerly one here???) and I'm a sort of "hit and run" poster (grrr, not a troll!) - a few days on and a few days off!

I have two thoroughly-spoiled Border Collies (Kali Kolsson, 9 and Snorri the Priest, 5) from a cattle farm here in the islands - just a couple of tinks, really! They are half-brothers and they have blue eyes. The names are Norse (Orkney used to be part of Norway/Denmark up to about 500 years ago) and used to belong to real people.

Besides the BCs, I have interests in classical music (over 800 CDs!), Norse sagas (you'd never guess!), cooking and a bit of photography (pics all over the Net :D) Partnered 20 years, no rugrats, thank goodness; disabled and at home most of the time (except when in town, or watching the dogs run on a local beach).

I brew my own beer, make my own curries - any Champdogger who makes it up here should get in touch! :) :)

- By sandy salisbury [gb] Date 10.10.03 22:57 UTC
Hi Snorri
I visited Orkney 7 years ago when I had rid myself of husband no.2. I admit I was one of those coach tourists that circle your island for the day and disappear back to the mainland  When we arrived there was a thick mist and could see nothing - the driver informed us that we had just passed the famous Orkney nudist colony!! However the sun came out and I fell in love with the place.
Now husband no.3 has agreed he would love to do the journey back with me, only this time no coach tours! So beware there might be a knock on your door one cold and dark night asking for directions to the nudist colony :D

HI, from another Essex girl, who has posted far less than she has lurked!. My name is Fiona and I have been a member for nearly two years now, but maybe don't post as much as I should. I have 1 dog (Saffy) - a large hairy one (briard) who makes enough mess for four, two cats (Mittens and Sooty - who my son named) and a pond full of fish. I also live with my three sons, 10, 6 and 5 and their dad (who also make alot of mess). I must admit I can't keep up with all the people on here nowadays!! I am a total addict however.

Hi, this is a great idea :) I'm Sarah (26) My boyfriend and I bought our first house last April - In my familiy home we had a BC x Springer and a yorkie (yes I know :D) My boyfriend's family home had a Puli, Wheaten, Saluki and Spanish water.! We are currently dog-less due to the move and all - but we found our breeder on champdogs and have ordered our first pup together....an Irish setter :) She is a twinkle in her daddy's eye at the mo. We cant wait. At the moment we have a very large spider which I brought home from work - I used to be an entomologist at a zoo. I did a few tv appearances with her so when I left I took her with me!! I used to be a junior handler mainly Rottweilers but I dont show anymore, I also studied animal science at college.

Hi everbody

I'm one of the Lesleys and live in Scotland with my hubby and 1 grown up daughter, who had left home, but has since returned to turn the spare bedroom into a black hole into which things disappear never to be seen again. She says she will be leaving again, but we'll believe that when it happens!! Those of you who think your Kevins will eventually grow out of it, abandon hope now!!! Anyway, on a much brighter note, we've got 2 Spinoni, Cadmus and Spike (aka Private Pike, the Stupid Boy), and also Billy the Cat, who is remarkably tolerant and can often be seen wandering about looking dazed and confused and coated in Spinoni Slime.

- By Drai21 [ca] Date 14.10.03 17:14 UTC
My name is Andrea and my 4.5 month old puppy's name is Kirra. We really are not sure what kind of dog she is but the general ideas float around Rottie or Doberman and Lab crosses. However, she looks like she was crossed with a terrier or weiner dog of some kind, (with the markings of a Rottie). I don't really care because she is cute, calm and lovable. She is very smart. So far we have mastered sit, shake a paw, left paw, right paw, and highfive. I can also get her to lay down, tell her to stay and dangle a cherrio (her fav treat) above her head until I say okay. I am looking into obedience classes to help with things like stay and come. She does these sometimes, but she is far from constistant.
I've been a lurker for a few months now and I have found this website quite helpful. It did take me a little time to figure out your English slang. I have never been to any part of Great Britian, but it is one of the next places I'd like to travel.
It's a pleasure to meet you all.
Andrea
