The American Pit Bull terrier is a very old breed, there is a loose standard not disimilar to the American Staffordshire Terrier, but with fighting dogs, looks certainly were not at the top of the list! There is a comprehensive directory of pit bull pedigrees easily available, breeding is paramount for these people, they are dedicated to a perfect fighting machine.

As for shows in the UK, there was many, they incorperated it with the weight pulling and trialing competitions they used to do, these still frequent in the States. Obviously we shouldn't have pit bulls here anymore, but we do, we still have dog fighting too, but as I said a breed "standard" would not be high on the list of priorities.

Have a look at www.bobersapbt.com/kiara.html to see some superb Pit Bulls in fantastic condition, there are also show pictures there too.

Thats because only Staffordshires are devil dogs didnt you know ??? :(
On another site there is actually a post from someonewho knew this poor man and the Staffie concerned . Apperently they went everywhere together and the poor dog was muzzled because it didnt like other dogs . It did used to nip him during a fit to bring him around and the family say it probably became distressed when he never came around and so it bit harder :(

Strangley enough it doesn't mention the man had ever had a fit before,(dog world) but there were investigations into the fact the dog had allegedly gone for a little girl. Will we ver know the truth???
