I think the established disciplines in the Working Trials stakes cover most things, and only the most advanced or proffesional dogs do the highest Patrol dog Stake.

Before you can even enter schutzhund tests the dog must pass the BH which is a temperament test. All the best dogs in both PD working trials and schutzhund have impeccable temperaments. Unstable dogs which are mainly defence driven are not suitable. The prey drive is harnessed and utilised to make manwork really an advanced retrieve that is why so many labs are good at it! By all means go in for working trials CD, UD, WD, TD and avoid manwork for your dog who sounds completely the wrong temperament for a SPORT dog. What the police, MOD and security firms want out of a dog is NOT what is wanted in competition.

As you can be disqualified from KC run competitions for having a dog dangerously out of control it is not worth entering an unstable dog neither is it fair to the other competitors. PD and Schutzhund are perfectly safe sports when sensible handlers, dogs and trainers are involved!
