exactly JG :)

Also as has been said on other threads if only some litters are registered it doesn't portray a true reflection of the breed when the fugures are given by the KC.
Emma I think it's best to get the papers as you then have the peace of mind, and should you decide later to show the choice is yours.
Personally I can't see the point in breeding a pedigree dog and not registering the litter.

I Ditto all comments FOR KC paperwork and agree not supplying them is or could contribute to the feable excuses coming from non KC puppy breeders. I just cannot understand why the should not be KC. I can see the reason for wanting protection of lines etc but use endorsements and puppy contracts. You have to have some trust and faith in your puppy purchaser. If in doubt do not sell. I know some do get through the loop but that is life.

Most people I know who show and do agility etc bought their first dog as a pet and then decided to do something with it. Without paperwork they would have been struggling. ( Edited to add nto sure about agility rules)

" WE " have to careful we are not sending people straight into the hands of unethical breeders.

A lack of KC reg will stop you from showing, but if you want to compete at agility/working trials etc later on, you don't need the KC reg from the breeder as you can register your dog on the KC working register yourself (this is not the same as the 'standard' KC registration, which lets you show and breed registered pups). Unfortunately, I can't see how either supplying or not supplying the KC reg documents with a pup will prevent it's unethical breeding by an unscrupulous person. Personally, if I didn't want to show, I'd be quite happy to not have the KC papers passed on by a breeder that I trust, although I'd probably feel better if I knew the litter had been registered.
