This is definitely the reality of dog breeding and what every breeder has lived through.
People who think breeding is easy or just for making money have never seen reality losing pups,pups born dead, losing your bitch and having to hand raise pups or worse losing both bitch and pups.
Why we still do it after things like this is definitely not for money in my book but for love of watching those pups your bitch has produced grow and develop into beautiful dogs that you can be proud of.
