Today on the news the police have said that the fornsic investigation is still going on and may take some time.   They have finished examining the house and have left there.  They have asked that the parents aren't approached by the press.  The dog is still in custody.

Can't help thinking that if it was clear one of the dogs had killed the baby, they would have said something by now.

Interesting article: "Vet Scott Miller says that no dog, whatever their breed, is ever safe to be left alone with a baby or child": Never EVER trust a dog with a child

I would think that the parents probably will not want either dog back, far easier to blame the dog species than themselves and they will most likely go through life saying they would never have a dog again, which I guess for the dog world is probably a good thing, more people need to think like that because I would guesstimate a good 40% of dog owners should not have a dog at all, or they have the completely wrong breed for their lifestyle.

But, alas.... this story will not stop it........ no idea what will, but another innocent death will not.........

Apparently both dogs (malamute and collie cross) have now been PTS.  Very sad.

So very sad. A tiny, innocent, baby girl tragically killed and the dogs that did it now killed, while the parents walk free. OK they will have to carry the loss of thier baby with them forever, but there will be no legal bother for them - the 2 people that were responsible for the lives and safety of all 3 beings that are now dead.
The dogs should not have killed the baby, but they are dogs, they don't have a set of moral 'right & wrongs' like humans do, they have only their instinctive & trained behaviour. The dogs should not have been put in a position where they COULD kill a baby and no parent should EVER put thier baby in a position where it can be killed by dogs.

If a parent set their baby down to sleep on the hard shoulder of a motor way, I imagine they would be in serious legal trouble if the baby got killed by a vehicle, yet the police (or our legal system that the police are going by?) seem to think it's perfectly OK for a parent to allow the situation to occur in which their baby gets killed by their own dogs. The mind boggles...................

Poeple just will NOT learn. We seem to be now at a stage where a dog is actually more accountable for it's own actions than the human being that ought to be responsible for it in every way. We are supposed to, LEGALLY, ensure are dogs health & welfare, how can putting them in a position that they kill a baby and end up being destroyed be responsible PET ownership, let alone responsible parenting??????

Perhaps that will change when the law is extended to dog attacks on private property.

The Welsh news last night featured a mother whose 3 year old was bitten on the cheek by a Husky a couple of months ago.  This woman was very vocal about how the law should be tightened etc etc.  But the truth of it was that the child was staying with her grandmother who allowed her to 'kiss the doggy goodnight'.......Unbelievable....

As far as I know though (unless I've missed a report), we still don't know that the dogs did it.  I find this one a very strange case, something is off.

There have been no reports in Wales, since the one from police saying the investigation was still going on.    All we know is that the two dogs have been PTS.

There has been no report of what happened.

I also find this strange.   Would have thought by now, that the pathologist would have been able to indicate the cause of death.
A full inquest  is to  be held later this year.

Not much has been said, but I did find this:

"Following a post-mortem on baby Eliza-Mae, of Pontyberem, Carmarthenshire, officers decided the dogs were no longer needed, and could be humanely killed.
Police sources, however, confirmed that the dogs were involved in the killing and that the parents were not being investigated" from here

The 'parents not being investigated' part was what irked me (hence me getting on my soap box in my earlier post, sorry all for my ranting). We as parents are responsible for our children's safety, especially when they are so tiny and fragile as a little baby :(

>Neighbours said the husky had been behaving strangely after the baby came home from hospital. Ms John also has two other children - Harley, five, and Lily-Rose, three.

If this is true, then there was ample warning of a problem.

I'm getting heartily sick of dogs being blamed and paying the very high price for the stupidity of their human owners.     It's about time people were encouraged to think of the consequences of their actions.

Oh yes your honour, it wasn't me what shot the victim, it were the gun

Has the world gone mad?
