Muck boots might be light enough for you, don't know about the height, I have the opposite problem.

No - Muck Boots (at least, I have the Derwent) aren't anywhere near as high as my Hunters :(

yeah, have ruled out Muck Boots, thanks anyway.  Leaning towards Aigles which are tallest I've found so far at nearly 16" (they are absolutely excellent at giving fullest poss info, big selling point for me, unlike other brands) - think if I go for the non-neoprene ones they may be a bit lighter too.  Wear them in summer as well so don't want too warm, and in winter can stick extra pair of socks on as in recent snow when wasn't too cold in totally unlined cheapos.

PS Like your signature Celli, agree, the 4-legged companion is infinitely preferable!!

My Le Chameau Chasseurnord are 16" high, Neoprene lined and more to the point, have a fully-zipped leg which makes life much easier! I was cocenred the zip might leak but they have been great :)

cheers.  Have this a.m ordered online http://www.easy-wellies.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_reviews_info&products_id=1005&reviews_id=2804 Sorry if such links not allowed, will delete if so.  They're the Aigle Parcours 2 Vario Bronze (tho colour is actually dark green). Got universal rave reviews and although v. expensive at £117, reports are that they last years longer than the now rubbish made-in-China Hunters which are about £70 these days anyway.  The Easy Wellies customer service already first rate, excellent.  Will feed back on the actual Aigle wellies in due course!  Only downside of them at the mo is that I haven't been able to find any shops in Yorkshire that stock them, so no chance to try on first.

Good :) I will need a new pair of high wellies too. Our road floods after heavy rain (and snow thaw - fortunately not near my house) and it virtually comes to the top of my Muck Boots and my Hunters leak :( :( I'll be interested to see how you  get on :)

Had email from their carriers (UPS) to say they're scheduled for delivery tomorrow :) tho as I'll be out it'll prob be Fri before I get to use them.  Will certainly post some quick feedback Daisy.

Thanks - although no rush as I'll have to have them for my combined birthday/Christmas present at that price :) :) :)

Might be worth having a look at "Bog boots", worn for dog walking, at the stables etc, really like them, comfy and warm. Just google. x

I've ordered a pair of Bogs, ten days ago and haven't heard a peep from them other than to say they are being processed, and no reply to my e mail...grrrrrr

Hi there

I've been wearing some called Gumleaf which are a boot company based in Norfolk - I can't say where their boots are made (no doubt abroad....whose aren't these days) but they very durable and have lasted me for the last couple of seasons. I wear them most weekends and some evenings so they're not kept in cotton wool at all!

A quick scout on the internet for them http://www.thewellingtonbootco.co.uk/gumleaf-wellington-boots.html - My ones are the Royal Zip - whilst they're not the lightest boot on the market, they're not too heavy either (I note you say Aigle are heavy - I don't know as I've never worn a pair) and very hard wearing too.

Hope this helps!

I eventually got my Bogs, my one criticism is that the grip on them is rubbish, but, I did buy kids size, from photos of the adults ones, the grips on those are much much better.
They have to be the comfiest wellies I've had, like wearing slippers, don't know how good they are at keeping the cold out, but they are very hard wearing, I walk through peaty bogs and heather regularly, which is usually the death knell to boots, but these have come up smiling.

How do you find the sizing on Bog boots? I have quite large feet 8 to 8.5 sometimes even a 9 in some hiking boots. Also calf size, can find Hunters a bit neat on the calves and hard to get on and off. Will definitely need to get a new pair of wellies this year as the tread on my comfy old pair are losing their grip in the mud, not good on sloping fields and footpaths.
- By Celli [gb] Date 09.09.13 09:47 UTC
The sizing on my pair are roomy, but they are supposed to be, according to their site, as this helps with insulation.
I have rather meaty calfs too, but the Bogs have been fine, but as mine are a kids size, they possibly don't come up as far as adults size.
The foot part is regular rubber, the calf part is neoprene so has plenty of give.

Just to add, if you do go for Bogs, you might be better off with mens ones, for some reason Bogs don't feel us wimmin need decent grips on the soles, presumably as us ladies only ever go out shopping ;)

Given my huge feet, I usually end up with men's shoes and boots! Thank goodness I have discovered Hotter shoes, lovely and comfy ladies shoes that look good and in my size. Heaven.

Many thanks for the feedback Celli
