I totally agree with ridgelover. People do google for everything now. They just type in whatever breed pups they are looking for and those sites come up. I had adverts in my breed club, in which both sire and dam are well respected. I had adverts on the KC site as well. Neither of which produced a single enquiry. I had a waiting list but I was hit by a couple of people who decided the time wasn't right for them

It was not easy for me on advertise on these sites and many times I started and couldn't go through with it. But I had to find buyers. I think you just need to be extra careful and weed out the numpties. Idiots and good people alike use those sites and you just have to stick to your guns and turn away the fools. Eventually good people will find you and your pups  have the home you would wish for them. But its a flustrating process dealing with people who's only wish is to have a pup to breed from with their existing dog. I am sure these people thought I was a stuck up snob but they were my pups and going nowhere I didn't want them to.

This was my only litter for 6 years. The last time I had a large litter of 12 and had people knocking my door down. I do think times have changed and in many of my friends breeds I am hearing the same thing. I am in no hurry to breed again and it will probably be another 6 years LOL.

A couple of the top breeders and exhibiters in our breed use these sites and their adds always look miles better than the others, worded well and I think acts like a beacon to what as a jo public buyer should be truly expecting from a good breeder.

To make a real change you have to be flexible and move with the times to the new technological developments such as the internet and as discussed throughout the thread it both enhances and hinders the world of dogs. However if this is where the people whom you want to educate are looking then by putting a 'good' add it should as stated above act as a beacon, and becomes for the viewer food for thought.

I think the most appropriate saying would be ... "You can take a horse to water and can't force it to drink", and applies unfortunately to many people, who don't want to wait.
