DalmatianxOld English Sheep Dog

Yorkie x Cairn
- By suejaw Date 03.11.10 23:10 UTC
1: Cairn x Shih Tzu
2: Cairn x something small
3: Shih Tzu x ESS
4: Shih Tzu x ESS

And the point of these crosses I wonder?

We have a cross breed which goes to my obedience, still only 7 months old and the now owner is a young lad who cares deeply and is willing to learn. It is a Staff x Ridgie..
- By Dukedog Date 03.11.10 23:13 UTC
I don't know what an ESS is but the spots must be Dalmatian surely. no?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 03.11.10 23:27 UTC

Which would make Corgi fit.  I say that with GSD
- By Goldmali Date 03.11.10 23:35 UTC
I'd say 1 is Yorkie x Cairn, 2 Yorkie x Poodle, 3 and 4 Cocker x Shih Tzu. Got to be two longcoated breeds as you couldn't possibly get long coated pups otherwise, unless one parent was a crossbreed that carried the gene themselves.

Here's another: http://www.flickr.com/photos/75465522@N00/5144405648/

I have a Papillon way spottier than that LOL.

Well I never, never seen a spotted 1 before.
PapillonxOld English then.lol
- By Goldmali Date 03.11.10 23:42 UTC
Not meant to be spotted but this one turned out that way -technically speaking she is too ticked but she is enough spotty -when wet she looks stripy like a zebra LOL.
- By Dukedog Date 03.11.10 23:47 UTC
You're not tellin me you let a Dalmatian have it's way with 1 of your little girls  ;)
- By suejaw Date 03.11.10 23:53 UTC
Marianne that wouldn't be a GoldMali would it ;-)
- By suejaw Date 03.11.10 23:54 UTC
ESS - English Springer Spaniel
- By Goldmali Date 03.11.10 23:56 UTC
Except other way around suejaw (well it's what we used to say, these days it's firmly "accidental crossbreeds"!!) -I actually applied for that first as an affix but it wasn't accepted so I had to switch it around, GM instead of MG.
- By Dukedog Date 04.11.10 00:11 UTC

> ESS - English Springer Spaniel

Thank you.
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 04.11.10 08:00 UTC
Zarah's the winner! No 1 is a Yorkie x Cairn, no 2 they only knew the Cairn half but I would also bet on Yorkie - shape of head particularly when wet so you can see it, type of tail, and size was halfway between the two. 3 and 4 were described to me as terrier crosses, but I would also bet on something ESS or at least spaniely in there!

I agree - but when he was younger he ran like a whippet (and had no problems keeping up with our neighbours' whippet :) :) :) )  Was an ex-Elkhound breeder that saw him close up and said possibly Elkhound :) :)

Ooh she's pretty!!!!!
Cavalier x Dachshund?
JRT x Dachshund? JRT x Cavalier?? Papillon x dunno?
- By suejaw Date 04.11.10 21:10 UTC
Jo, are they from the same parents? Lol, have to ask..

1st one is a JRT, is it even a cross? So hard to tell with them. GUess it is from putting it on here

2nd one looks like a Cav x Springer.
- By zarah Date 04.11.10 21:14 UTC
:-D
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 04.11.10 22:00 UTC
Gosh, these are hard! JR I reckon, x Yorkie? Westie?
And Cocker x Cavalier? Cocker or some spaniel x Staffie??
- By Dukedog Date 04.11.10 22:01 UTC
JRxESS
- By Goldmali Date 04.11.10 22:58 UTC
Jenny looks so familiar, two of mine blended together, so I have to say Cavalier x Papillon. The other one looks like a JRT to me as well so I haven't got a clue!
- By MsTemeraire Date 04.11.10 23:07 UTC

> Jenny looks so familiar, two of mine blended together, so I have to say Cavalier x Papillon.

Got a hunch there's a short-legged dwarfy-type in there though - Cavs & Paps aren't dwarfs but miniatures.... though many small JRTs are dwarfs, genetically speaking (Queen Anne legs), so are Dachshunds. I'm not sure on the inheritance of dwarfism but having seen a dwarf Labrador once and dwarf BC [aka Sawn-off Sheepdog! lol] I think it's recessive.
- By Goldmali Date 04.11.10 23:15 UTC
Yes I thought Dachshund to start with, but then wondered if it was just the angle of the photo -my Peanut (Pap) sits like that which makes him look rather weird. But I guess it could be Long coated Dachshund x Papillon. Or even x Cavalier, the D face would give it the Pap lok I guess.

Oh it's impossible, really isn't it. If I had a pound for every one of my puppy buyers from my accidental litter who has been told they've been had, their dog is NOT a Belgian Shepherd cross or part Golden, it's clearly mainly Labrador -I'd be rich! And I've been told many a time myself by the very knowledgeable <grin> judges at companion shows "You obviously have a Greyhound cross there." (Needless to say some pups were black, some brindle.)
- By MsTemeraire Date 05.11.10 19:51 UTC
Was in town today and saw a dog which made me look twice, and zoom in for a closer look at its hind legs.... yep! Double dew claws... it was my first ever Beauceron. :D

The owner is French and brought him over when she came to live here - she said it's the first time anyone in England has ever known what he was. Apparently he is not 100% Beauceron but has a little dash of something else in there, but he was Beauceron-y enough for me to see it. Maybe a little lighter in bone and his red markings were paler than the pics I've seen.
- By Goldmali Date 05.11.10 19:54 UTC
A friend of mine had a Beauceron, died a few years ago.
- By MsTemeraire Date 05.11.10 20:20 UTC
Oddly enough, the UK's main Beauceron breeder lives less than 20 miles away from here!
I have an internet friend who has been corresponding with her for over a year and is looking to have a puppy from her when the next litter is born.
- By HuskyGal Date 06.11.10 07:49 UTC
Great thread!

How about these two...?
Careful now... ;-)

[Isabel, If you're reading, I couldn't resist!! :-D]
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 06.11.10 09:53 UTC

- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 06.11.10 11:14 UTC

- By JoStockbridge [gb] Date 06.11.10 11:40 UTC

The middle one:  GSP / Spinone cross?
- By suejaw Date 06.11.10 15:03 UTC
Spinone is part of the cross, but GSP is wrong.

Ok peeps you can have the 2nd dog. Its a Spinone x Bracco.

Keep guessing for the others..
- By chaumsong Date 07.11.10 16:59 UTC
The first one looks like it may be a staffy x  whippet?

The last a chi x jack russell?
- By suejaw Date 07.11.10 18:52 UTC

> The last a chi x jack russell?

Yippee, yup well guessed.
Be good for others to compare and see the other Chi x JRT further up the list to see what complete differences there are, look nothing alike.
This was actually sold as a pure bred Chi, but clearly isn't and had a price tag to boot :-(
- By chaumsong Date 07.11.10 18:55 UTC
So just the 1st one to guess then? Can you let us know if it is definitely a staffy cross? Then we just have to guess the other bit :-)
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 07.11.10 19:34 UTC
All the ones I guess as Staffy crosses turn out to be JR crosses - interesting!
- By MsTemeraire Date 07.11.10 21:42 UTC
1st one - Staffy x Springer?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 08.11.10 12:05 UTC
