I feel so sorry for you trying to train your dog and battling your husband's ways of dealing with her too :(

No wonder she is reacting to him the way she does, my own dogs would be nervous wrecks around him and very defensive. 

Unless you are ALL "singing the same song from the same sheet", then it will be really difficult to sort her out  

I can't help wondering if a behaviourist (from apdt etc) would help.  If you could have consultations at home with your OH and children present then much of their behaviour could be tackled too ;) 

You sound as if your confidence is at rock bottom at the moment, you need to find a trainer who will treat you kindly as well as your dog ;)

Thanks Dill and so nice to hear from you again Lindsay - you have helped me so much in the past.  I have to agree with you - my husband is old fashioned with his ideas with dog training and he thinks my ideas don't work.   He won't talk about what to do with the dog though I suspect since I have been forced to use his computer to use this site he has been having a peek to see what I am writing about.  I am supposed to be popping along tonight to see another class in Cardiff which sounds much better.  The present course is full but I need to assess whether it will be of any use or just prolong the agony of deciding to re-home her. I will see what they say.  Thankfully my agility trainer has got up on his feet very quickly (not sure it is with doctor's approval but well done him for being so positive) and is finishing off his course in the next 2 weeks.  He will then take a break for a few weeks and I have a couple of competitions booked.
