Hi Phill
you can borrow my Borders if you like, they are accomplished spider and fly catchers, and in the night, borrow my Persian cat, she catches them and screams like hell just to let you know, and after she has terrified you with her screams, the game is trying to find the microscopic Spider she has killed !!
You have an Axolotyl? love 'em, he should visit my Leopard Gecko, they could exchange views on crazy dog owners.

Hi Dawn, I will borrow the whole lot please, we seem to have a plague of the eight legged horrors at the moment, just my luck!!! Might be easier all round if I moved out for a while lol
I did have two axolotyls, a black one and a white one, but the white one died recently. They are eight years old now.. I think you either love em, or hate em. I just think they are fascinating, so ugly they are cute.
Youre right about"mad dog owners" Anyone who owns more than one dog has GOT to be mad :)

Dawn and Phil, true but some multi-dog owners are not quite mad enough for axolotyls .... :-) :-)

Now just how did you know that as Lewis is beautiful but unshowable, and my Star baby is not to be, I've been having long saluki shaped thoughts again :-)?

Oh nononononononononononononono! What about an otterhound, much more up your street :)

Hmmmm - I do like snotterhounds, but just think - if I had a saluki, no one is going to complain that my hound is too lean, which would be a lovely change ...

Def. an otterhound, big, shambling softies, who would adore the area/life style that you have. ( imo :) )

So I can either spend the next decade chasing a saluki over the Eildons as it declines to come back, or fishing an otterhound out of the Tweed :-). Maybe I'll have one more go at looking for a show wolfie ....

'squse my stupidity - axolityls - some sort of salamanda? Or has my memory gone and it is some sort of insect, no can't be you would not feed an insect worms - would you? Jackie H

Hi Jackie, yes they are the larval form of the salamander. Native of Mexico, and hard to breed in this country for the following reason, or so Ive been told!!! In Mexico, the Iodine content in the water is different to ours. In their native land, they loose their gills, develope lungs and leave the water. Here, unless you are an expert it is difficult to get them to breed. Personally, I dont even know how you sex one. Mine is about 9ins long now, and eats earth worms, hence Sharons dislike of the little critter lol

Thanks, no idea when or where I picked up that bit of info from, it's amazing what pops out of the brain uninvited, half the time you didn't know it was there anyway, if you see what I mean. Jackie

Agree totally, but why does it rarely pop up when you need it, thats what I want to know?

"ELVIS" (Gecko) eats brown Crickets, Locusts, mealworms and Waxworms. Oh and my Border Terrier "parsley" thought it entertaining to grab a new box of crickets and throw them all over the kitchen !!! Upto 200 of the things jumping everywhere, had to fumigate the kitchen, empty it of furniture and vacuum it for hours!!!!! Fancy swapping the Axolotyl for a Gecko Phill?
