My nearly 4 year old entire Dobe squats probably 50% of the time, if not more often. He nearly always squats in the garden, and if busy playing with a toy offlead on a walk he just squats wherever he happens to be standing when the urge takes him...can't be bothered to sniff out a tree or the like :-D He never squats when pavement walking though, even on the grass verges - seems he would rather dislocate my shoulder in an attempt to pee up every single tree, lamp post, bin, road sign etc etc that smells like it needs to be peed on - something which I am going to make great efforts to not allow from day one if I get another male!

I have noticed if a male wants to actually pee (empty the tank) as opposed to mark they will often squat.

Are they entire?

No they are both neutered - and sadly at very early ages of 8 months and 6 months in line with DogsTrust adoption regulations. Harley has probably only ever cocked his leg on a handful of occasions and Cooper squats 95% of the time.

That would explain the non cocking (especially the age) and of course the non male smelling wee.  I have had boys here to stay and must say that their wee even when squatting is far smellier than a bitches wee.
